Came in here on a whim and left with conflicting impressions. First, I did not know that I was walking into a vegan establishment when coming here, but I was made aware when I was making my order. I ordered two kolaches and a strawberry cupcake to go for lunch. The prices were agreeable, but the kolaches were not. The kolaches were almost barren dinner roles. The vast majority of the kolache was a dry bland bread roll. I wasn't expecting much from either kolache after discovering they were vegan, but there was hardly anything else in there. The only saving grace to my visit was the strawberry cupcake. When I opened the container, I was greeted with the aroma of sweetened strawberry. The icing itself was a tad too sweet, but the cake was on point. Just be sure to eat it fast when it's cold, otherwise the cake will start to fall apart.

I went to Capital City Bakery after reading about it in a vegan group on Facebook and having one of my Facebook friends rave about it. The coffee and brownie I had were both quite good in quality. They totaled $6.20, so I gave them $7.00. I probably wouldn't go back soon because I live off of South Lamar, about 5 miles away, and there are lots of places closer. Also, the service and atmosphere were not exactly what I wanted. They were happy to give me a ceramic plate and cup when I asked, but I would have preferred not being handed a brownie wrapped in plastic or coffee in a paper cup. Most coffee shops around town seem to already get that. The music was good. The chairs weren't really comfortable. I like supporting start-ups, local businesses, and businesses that offer vegan products. Like I said, no complaints about the quality of the products, but I also consider atmosphere and location when going out for coffee and a snack. I hope that my observations are accepted in the helpful spirit that I intended. Best wishes for success.

The BEST vegan bakery in town by far! You need to come in here, vegan or not, and try at least one cupcake from this East side bakery. Located right across the street from Juan in a Million, you can get your sweet tooth satisfied without having to overload on sugary badness with these vegan treats. Have the Yelp app? Check in for a $2 any cupcake special. Be sure to grab a Frequent Cupcake Card to have the bakery stamp your card. You get a free cupcake once you get it stamped 9 times. Also, add the bakery on Facebook - the owner puts up pictures and specials on her cupcakes each week. This week is APPLE CIDAR cupcakes!!!

They are the best in making custom cakes. You tell'em what you have in your mind and they will exceed your expectations.

I'm not vegan, I love cupcakes, and I didn't even realize these were vegan while I was eating it because they were amazing. Had the carrot cake cupcake-- it was so cutely decorated and the frosting was AMAZING (I'm a frosting gal. So that's a big deal.) I recommend it even if you aren't vegan-- and DEFINITELY if you are!

This bakery is amazing. I live in Waco, so to visit a place that isn't considered the norm here was refreshing. I'm not vegan, but my boyfriends mom is (and she doesn't eat sugary snacks) and she loved this place. It's cute, quiet and smells awesome. The owner was a very nice lady and made sure we had what we needed. And for me, having Topo Chico was a HUGE plus (Waco supply is really only limited to the 3 7/11's we have). Will visit again, that frosting made my day.
