Indoor Barbeque: Kalua-Style Pork (Pressure Cooker Style) with a Pineapple-Mango Salsa
Hello friends!  I'm back from my self-imposed little vacation from my blog. To my world of invisible internet friends, one might think that every meal I make is blog worthy. I hate to burst anyone's bubble, but that's just not true.  Every once in a whi...

Roasted Corned Beef with a Bourbon Molasses Glaze and Balsamic Glazed Seared Cabbage
Wow, that's a long and descriptive title for this corned beef recipe!   I was inspired to try " The Pioneer Woman's " version of Corned Beef and
Cabbage, from her posting last March .  What reeled me in was her version
of seared cabbage drizzled with a ...

Mexican Pork Carnitas/Pulled Pork (with a little help from my pressure cooker)
I have often given credit to my mother for forcing teaching me how to cook, ever since I was a little girl. Most of the recipes she taught me how to make were from her German (Bavarian, to be specific) origins. To this day, my siblings request that I make ...

I love a good pound cake, and this one definitely sounds like a winner.  Of course, almond extract seals the deal.  This would be lovely with my West Coast grown berries (ahem).  We are the heart of where Driscoll berries are grown, and they are fabulous. Though, I have a local farm stand that grows organic sweet strawberries that are red, through and through....and I can't wait to buy some!  Happy Easter!

Southern Style Coconut Cake with a Whipped Coconut Cream Cheese Frosting
I am a life long member of the "I love coconut" fan club.  I must really love coconut cake, because I've already shared three different coconut cake recipes on my blog (starting in 2009). My favorite cake is white cake. Hands down. End of story.  I prefer a...

Drunken Beans
How many beans recipes have I posted, over the years? Quite a few! I never tire of finding new ways to prepare them.  We especially enjoy beans with barbecue and chili con carne . Given my first choice, pinto beans always win. This must come from my child...

Author of the Food Blog "A Feast for the Eyes"
Introduction
Debby "Foodiewife", author of "A Feast for the Eyes" Food blog. Hi, from Monterey, California. I'm a home cook who strives to learn how to make all things from scratch-- while balancing my busy life as a working wife and mom. I try to buy (and grow) the freshest ingredients possible. My culinary skills are an ever-evolving process of trial and error. I love to cook and bake, equally. Many of my recipes are influenced from my mother's Southern German background, and my dad's Mexican heritage. I have a list of things new recipes and dishes I still want to learn how to make. I enjoy sharing my self-taught lessons with a photo tutorial. I'm a self-taught and aspiring photographer. My food blog is my perfect venue to share recipes and I hope to you inspire you with my food photos.

I've been coming here for 3 years, and I think that you get your bang for the buck. I get the $30.00 combo that includes a "clothes on" massage of the face, head, neck, feet and legs. Then, I get 20 minutes of being on a private massage table for a back massage. I have a favorite massage therapist, but I'm reluctant to give out the name-- for fear she'll get so popular she'll be too booked! The therapists speak minimal English and don't talk at all, which is exactly as I like it. Seeing that a spa will charge $90-$110 per massage, you can't beat this. It's not as fancy as a spa, but it's clean, and that's what matters to me.
