Santa Claus will listen to children’s wishes and pose for photos at the 11th Annual Timbers’ holiday event, “Santa and the Timbers’ Elves,” from 1 – 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at The Timbers of Shorewood. The party features live reindeer, draft horses for hay rack rides, pictures with Santa, and much more!

A veteran who is determined by VA to be in need of the regular aid and assistance may be entitled to additional compensation or pension pay. Robert Hart of the American Association for Wartime Veterans (AAWV) will present a free informational seminar titled, “Aid and Attendance,” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25. This seminar is free and open to the public.

Barbara Carson’s world is dark and silent, but she is anything but sad. The 86-year-old resident of the Timbers of Shorewood has been virtually deaf since birth and nearly blind since age 30, but she has some very special friends and relatives who help keep her world vibrant. One friend is furry and four-legged - Clancy the therapy dog.

The Del Bergeson Orchestra and vocalist Sandi Haynes will provide the music for a “Harvest Ballroom Dance” from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014 at the Timbers of Shorewood retirement community, 1100 N. River Road. The public is warmly welcome to the free event.

Members of the orchestra are 25+ year music professionals, each with a deep passion for music and entertaining. Several members are music instructors teaching at the university level.

The Timbers of Shorewood is a rental retirement community which provides independent and assisted living apartments and a full schedule of activities and services. Residents, whose needs may change, are able to stay in the same place and receive appropriate care.

With the assistance of the Kiwanis Club of Shorewood, the staff at The Timbers transformed its ballroom into a frightening maze. A less scary alternative was a Halloween Game Room for children.
