Last week while most of us were planning holiday gatherings and contemplating time off with family and friends, NM Attorney General Gary King was busy working for the benefit of New Mexicans and what we value and cherish. Gary King held a news conference to announce an unprecedented lawsuit in state court against Valley Meat, the Roswell company that wants to slaughter our state’s beloved horses for profit.

As caring New Mexicans understand, slaughter can never be humane and is only a distraction from the real work needed to ensure the dignity and compassion we owe our horses. These efforts for humane solutions remain the utmost priority.
