Things I Thought I'd Have Mastered By Now: One in an Occasional Series
Y'all, my 45th birthday is coming up! And while I loooove birthdays, this one is a little weird. I am definitely an adult, even though I vacillate wildly between feeling like an adolescent freak and a geriatric homebody. I am pretty squarely in midlife - de...

Struggling for a silver lining
I'm usually a Pollyanna. I like to believe the best in people and circumstances. When crappy stuff happens I give myself a day to wallow/feel sad and then try to get myself out of it. The framework isn't working so well this month. The little dog had surger...

like a Boyz II Men tune
It's 1:13am the (very early) morning after the last show of the season. And I wish that I could process this, this leave-taking, without having to do it publicly... but alas for any poor reader who has stumbled on this space, it seems to not be the case. Le...

State of the Art
Two interesting articles have come to my attention this week. First is this piece by Anne Midgette of the Washington Post. In it, she speaks of the disconnect between the performing arts and their boards, and the subsequent conservatism in programming that ...

New Name (disclaimer: Crossfit post)
I've never been an athlete.  In school, when most people were going out for a team I was in some related activity (taking stats for the soccer team, dancing on the drill team for fall football games, so help me) that didn't require me to have any real athle...

Change this leopard's spots
Oh, y'all. I wish I were an extrovert. So many awesome things are happening! We opened a great show. We partnered with a fantastic organization on a beautiful evening of Wagner, Bartok & Mahler. We've opened and closed an intimate recital , a deconstructed ...
