DON THOMAS, LLC presents...
Don Thomas delbroc, hosting...

THE DON THOMAS, LLC. "PRIZE CHALLENGE TOURNAMENT"

To be hosted at the River Wars event under the purview of their Majesty's Barony of Iron Bog on Saturday, the 26th of September, 2015.  (http://www.eastkingdom.org/EventDetails.php?eid=2833)
Start time will be approximately 10:45AM.

Every competitor that holds a rapier High Order of Merit (OGR, WS, etc.) or has been elevated to the Order of Defense (and wishes to so participate) will be provided with their own static list field.  Whereupon, they will stand and accept challenges from all comers as if they were fighting a Prize.  This means that the OGR/WS/MoD (the Challengee) will be expected to fight three passes with any form so dictated by the Challenger.  The passes need not be with the same or even matching forms. (Cut and thrust allowed with the appropriate and usual caveats.)

The Challenger may NOTfight the same Challengee twice.

Both the Challenger AND the Challengee with the highest number of wins will receive a prize of my devising.

So, if you would like to challenge yourself and the award-bearing rapier community, please be sure to attend River Wars in Williamstown, NJ.  The tournament format is subject to alteration, so be sure to arrive in time for review before the tournament.

There should be LOTS of combat and even more fun during this tournament and I encourage you all to bring your best, most honorable fight and enjoy the day.

If you would like to volunteer to participate as either a OGR/WS/MoD/etc. or as list marshal/score keeper please contact me thusly:  :  Thomas delbroc -e-mail:   delbroc @ gmail.com

Mostly for my interest, but might be interest of some of you, as well.
I never in a million years would have thought THIS was inside of this chest.

Will drop more pics later on. Initial impressions are good. The board is nice and big, the box is mainly designed with housing the board in mind. The tins and trains are totally great with nice themed shapes. Quite a bit of dead space in the box but that's more because of the board size than any fault of the overall game. The insert is also great. If you love TtR and are a sucker for quality bits (like I am), then this will be a good buy for you.

Question for the group:
Based on today's announcement of the 'Designer Edition' of 'Smallworld' (as well as the multiple other "upgraded" games), I'm considering making my own 'game in a fancy box'.

So, What game do you think would be best suited for a bespoke "Designer" style upgrade?

I'm looking for a doweling jig.  I've seen lots of models available from HF, Grizzly, and the number of models on Amazon and other wood tool sites, but I'd like to hear some opinions from you nice folks.
Anything I should be on the lookout for?  I have no particular price in mind and I'm usually of the "buy once, cry once" camp.  Let me know which model YOU think is decent and one I should consider.
Thanks for any feedback!

Starting a game of Alan R. Moon's 1998 Spiel des Jahres winner 'Elfenland' THEN the cat got spooked while investigating the board and now we have to start again...

I'm quite harsh with our cat, exactly to prevent this on some long setup games a board jiggle can wreck hours of work. Often considered some games should have a magnetic or similar system for ease

Here an interesting thing about this song.  It's within the SCA period!

I would love to hear one of the bards perform a period version.  The Wikipedia link above has a few sources that might be known to other "in the know".
Maybe +Shivaun McGoff or +Alys Mackyntoich ?  :-D
