Want New Photos for your Cover?  Here's 100+ Hi-Res Freebies!

I love the new G+ covers!  So big and bold...smart.  If you want to use any of my photos (they are all Creative Commons Noncommercial), go for it.  Here is an album with 143 photos in it.  Maybe you will find something you like! :)

BTW, I have a 2nd album with 1000 photos in it that I was unable to share because of a (Bug #500?)... maybe this will be fixed soon.  Anyway, you can see that album at https://plus.google.com/photos/105237212888595777019/albums/5623042490481885105

I'm anxious to read this.

Introducing My Brand New Book (it’s certainly one I never dreamed I would write)

Every once in a while I write a book on something that's way outside my usual Photography and Photoshop topics, like a few years back when I wrote a short hardcover book for guys who didn't want kids (trying to explain why they're missing out on about the greatest thing ever!). Well, this book is certainly something different for me, and it's on a topic that I would have ever dreamed that I would write.

I hope you'll take a moment to watch the short video below about why I wrote it and who it's for. Also, if you order a copy (or download it from the iBooks store), know that 100% of the profits from the book will go to the Springs of Hope Orphanage in Kenya.

NOTE: on the video it says that's its only available in ebook format (it's on Apple's iBooks store now), but actually we now have printed copies as well and you can buy them directly from Amazon.com --- here's the link: http://amzn.to/TM2Z9S

One more thing: I disabled the commenting for this post, which is unusual for me, but this book is unusual for me too, and this way I can actually go to the office instead of just sitting around all day with my finger on the "Delete comment and block user button." LOL!  :)

Cheers, and here's wishing you your best Monday yet!

All my best,

-Scott

P.S. UPDATE: The book is now sold-out on Amazon.com, but you can still place your order there and as soon as they get the next shipment they'll send your copy out straight away. Many thanks to every one who ordered a copy! :)

Experimental synthesiser board Ototo turns anything into an instrument

The London design duo behind Dentaku is set to launch a synthesiser board that can turn everyday objects into musical instruments.

Ototo, which means younger brother in Japanese, is an experimental printed circuit board that uses sensors, inputs and touchpads and can connect to any conductive surface via crocodile clips. The board itself is covered in character animations that explain which sensor does what -- it's designed not for expert programmers, but for anyone with a creative mind who lacks the skills to translate their talent. For Dentaku designer Yuri Suzuki -- the sound artist behind the Disney audio system that lets you transfer audio messages through your finger -- his partner Mark Mckeague's girlfriend was that target audience.
