STAY AWAY!!! Doesn't the board of health usually shut these places down? >Large chunks of food and a spoon on the floor under foot in first booth offered. >Open vat of "hot sauce" type product sitting at room temp sweating. >Most heated items not actually hot. >Raw meat sitting out for stir fry. >Waitress spoke only Spanish and was clearly high. >Random T.V. Channels on were fuzzy and not connected properly. >Bathrooms have not been cleaned..ever. >Even with the ValPAK coupon it was a terrible VALUE. Try the place in the Ghetto Mall at Broad and Bush River Rd.

I went in optimistic b/c the one off Piney Grove is decent. Sat near the bar and there were 4-6 LARGE flies in the window trying to escape the overpowering filth in this place. I move to the next booth only to see a larger group of flies trying even harder to escape the health violations. We were first offered a table by the door but it was littered with sweat rings from the last people to survive. Flies usually indicate MAGGOTS. I was repulsed and wanted to leave but starving, with 2 kids and they had already brought out the room temp salsa and stale chips. Went to the restroom to "wash-up" and the hands free paper towel dispense spun empty. There was a large roll of brown paper sitting in a pool of musty water on the counter top and the last person clearly wet palmed the roll to rip off a section. I asked Jose to re-fill the paper and by the end of the questionable Quesodilla, I was back in there to find the only thing changed was the wafting of the waiters steaming dump. I have had some bad exp. but this one was the only time I felt repulsed.

Had the shrimp po boy and strawberry cheesecake for desert. Shrimp were huge, bread flaky and the cheesecake was pretty rich. The hair in the food, gnats, and flies were free of charge. Serious up though, flies and gnats are a good indicator of maggots! Would only go back if it was free again.

GREAT atmosphere, average service, baked chicken & sweet potato were a bit lacking. The scallops and shrimp pasta were a bit gamey. The pasta was still gamey after the meat was removed. Liver and onions served at less than room temperature. Steak was also lacking. Atmosphere and history offset by long delivery time and questionable fare. Would go back for the bar and quaint gift shop. Considering that they are only competing with McDonalds, Burger King and a few gas stations they may be a winner by default for local non franchise eats.
