For those of you who are skilled and are not afraid of the needle, this is my challenge: make yourself a real medieval costume. I've made and published on my website a couple of patterns for the construction of basic costumes. I will be glad to help so I'm available if you have any questions.

See the portrait of a remarkable Bulgarian ruler. Еxceptional and farsighted politician from IX c. His reign marked the beginning of the First Bulgarian Empire and the flourishing of Bulgarian culture and art.
Boris I The Baptist associates the Bulgarians to Christianity and starts a cultural revolution, accepting disciples of Cyril and Methodius in his Kingdom. He provides everything needed to develop their mission and to translate all liturgical books into Slavonic, written in the new slavonic alphabet.
His son Simeon will continue his policy and will strengthen the new world phenomenon  - Slavic culture.

The fresco on the "Sveta Bogordica" church wall is dated from  XIII-XIVc. so it illustrates rather costume from this century then the original IXc. The monastery and the church are located in Treskavets /currently FYROM/.

This Saturday I had the pleasure to speak at the Autumn Fair "Bulgarian roots," which took place on the territory of the ancient capital of Pliska. I thank the organizers for thеir invitation! Besides information on the issue of Bulgarian medieval costume I've made several demonstrations of different parts of costumes and accessories from the period of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom. I hope my audience found the lecture interesting and I've attracted them to the cause of Bulgarian history and experimental archeology.
