#DigitalGarage @andyburnhamGM @MENnewsdesk Good to see this open in Manchester.

It would be great if a primary school could attend and give you a master class using Google Cloud. Aldwyn Primary supporting digital learning. https://goo.gl/ofZBVx

Hi all,
Can somebody please let me know what the standby time is like on a Chromebook - in other words how long with the battery stay charged for if its not in use.

I'm sure I heard that they will need a charge every three days or so - is that right, or is it more like a tablet where the battery will stay charge for weeks?

Thank you...

Aldwyn Primary School in Audenshaw are supporting the #WESTANDTOGETHER campaign run by the Manchester Evening News and the Tim Parry and Johnathan Ball foundation for peace. Our Digital Leaders are using a Team Drive to produce and save work and will be designing some posters over the next few weeks to support the campaign.

G Suite has made all the difference to the way our team works, giving them some much needed future skills that would be impossible to obtain by simply sharing on a traditional file server. We are currently running a massive e-safety and cyberbullying project and that is all cloud based. Not bad for 7 to 11 year old’s.

Hi all,
Can anyone recommend Chromebooks for primary schools. These must double as a tablet and run Android Apps. Price around £220 or thereabouts.

What seems to be the best value for money ??
Thanks...

Aldwyn Primary School is rolling out Google Drive File Stream to both staff and students. Safe storage of any file or folders in Google Cloud and once logged out it leaves nothing behind on the computer or laptop you have been working on. This is the first stage of securing data and ridding the school of USB Pen drives.

With everything stored on Google Cloud its a FREE win, win for schools who have moved their IT forward and are now using G Suite for Education.

We had some very old and unloved HP laptops at Aldwyn Primary School. I decided to give them an extra lease of life by turning them into Chromebooks.
Wow - they boot quickly,

I don't have to install antivirus and all the children's work is available by logging into Google Cloud. 7 laptops now available for classroom use.

Sexting, Fake News, Radicalisation Great feedback
Some really great feedback from children from the first of the events. Really important that schools cover this and tick a massive Ofsted box. Book and event by clicking here and make sure that your children are safe when on the internet.

Comments – Yr 6:
Already knew about all of this but learnt how serious it is.
Made us take it more seriously and understand that it could happen to them.
Confident that they can deal with it now.
Prompted discussions with parents (who the children felt) that they didn’t know about it.
They reinforced the message.
Children said they have become a lot more aware of this type of esafety and careful – even after one lesson.
They liked Mr Goodier’s matter of fact delivery and felt it made it stronger coming from a lesser known teacher + it was less awkward.
He made the lesson interesting and relevant.
They thought they handled it in a very mature way.

Comments – Yr 5:
Didn’t know anything/much about this before.
Thought it was very important that they did and helped prepare them for the future.
They also talked to their parents and families.
Felt the lesson was delivered in a serious but comfortable way.

Aldwyn Primary School – Fake Websites
Year 5 & 6 at Aldwyn Primary School are having a great time designing and building their own fake news websites. Some very creative thinking, writing and design work involved.

Aldwyn Primary G Suite Display
Aldwyn Primary have just completed 5 weeks of building Fake News websites on Google Cloud. Some examples will appear shortly once they have been marked on Google Classroom.

We are now doing more and more work in the cloud and children are loving the experience. A leading Tameside Primary School moving children forward. Take a look at our Google Cloud display in the school IT suite.
