If you want to avoid mixed-content errors with the free version of OWM and don't have a high-usage application, you can add "https://cors-anywhere.herokuapp.com/" to the front of the url (i.e., "https://cors-anywhere.herokuapp.com/http://api.openweathermap.org/data/2.5/forecast/weather?lat=" + latitude + "&lon=" + longitude + "your_key"). Again, this is for low-frequency requests.
This API enables cross-origin requests to anywhere. Usage: / Shows help /iscorsneeded This is the only resource on this host which is served without CORS headers. / Create a request to , and includes CORS headers in the response. I'm trying to create a a persistent live Kali USB drive. The first step for creating the extra partition seems odd because it references the .iso image but there doesn't appear to be any such file on the USB drive.  Sure enough, I get the no-such-file-found error when I execute the command shown in step 2 at http://docs.kali.org/downloading/kali-linux-live-usb-persistence (I did adjust the version appropriately).

Is there a list of all potential API current-weather results? Especially for list.weather.description? I've hunted around the openweathermap.org site and can't find it.

Thanks for the advice. I think, for the time being, I'm OK with "guest ok = yes" because access is limited to IPs on the internal network. I did create samba users because it seemed to be necessary to get it working for some people. If I ever open it to access from outside our home network, I plan to use PGP keys.
