What to Do for Great Heart Health

Our heart is one of the most important organs in our body. Our heart is responsible for blood circulation and supplying our whole body with the oxygen it needs. We owe our lives to our hearts and the best we can do for our own body is to always eat, drink, and live healthily. We face stress and have fast-food. These are not factors that we can benefit from, for our body – for our heart.

Here are some things we can do for a healthy heart:

✔Exercising is important for the health of our body and especially our heart. Cardio workouts, as good as they are, must be done regularly but not at a phase that’s too much. Always have time for a good workout.

✔Eat food that is healthy and beneficial. It is always best to avoid greasy, fatty food. Also, drink fluids that do not contain artificial flavorings and preservatives.

✔Always keep the food we eat at a natural and organic level.

✔Avoid stress! Avoid stress at all time. We all have problems we go through. The key is to focus on solutions and be productive. Sulking and brooding would just increase the level of stress. Always be positive!

Four Myths about High Blood Pressure

There are a number of myths surrounding high blood pressure, leaving the people diagnosed with it and their families confused. Advance Visiting Physicians PC unravels the truth behind these myths.

Myth #1: “But I’m not experiencing dizziness, nervousness, and difficulty sleeping!”
High blood pressure doesn’t have any symptoms. That’s why it’s called the silent killer. In fact, one-third of the people in the United States with high blood pressure don't even know they have it.

Myth #2: “I have blood pressure. They say I have to give up my favorite food.”
No! You can still eat your favorite food, provided that you eat them in moderation. Ask your doctor about it.

Myth 3: “It runs in our family so there’s nothing I can do to prevent it.”
If you have relatives who have had high blood pressure, chances are you are likely to develop it too. However, lifestyle choices, such as regular exercise and healthy diet, can help prevent it.

Myth #4: “I’m a woman, I’m safe.”
It’s not true that only men have to worry about getting high blood pressure. Such condition doesn’t choose gender. Women can have it too.

We can help. Visit www.advancevphys.com.

Four Foot Care Tips for People with Diabetes

Did you know that diabetes can reduce the blood supply in your feet, which leads to peripheral neuropathy? This prevents foot injuries from healing completely. Neglecting your feet can result in various problems, including skin infections, open wounds, and amputation. That is why a good foot care is essential for people with diabetes.

Below are some foot care tips:

1. Wash your feet.
Use warm water when washing your feet. This helps improve blood circulation. For soap, use one that contains moisturizer. This prevents the skin of your feet from cracking.

2. Apply moisturizing lotion.
Do it once or twice a day to keep your skin healthy and moist. Opt for thick lotions. However, do not overdo with the moisturizer. Skin that is too soft and moist can break down or become a breeding ground for infections.

3. Choose the right fit.
Ill-fitting shoes can cause corns and calluses, ulcers, and nail problems that are hard to treat due to your diabetes.

4. Seek a podiatrist.
A podiatrist or chiropodist is a doctor specialized in treating foot problems. Advance Visiting Physicians PC offers podiatry services. Feel free to contact us at 248-702-0838.
