I have no idea why people are settling for this crap. Have you people been to the west-side store? Have you seen the quality of food in Sun Prairie? I stopped going to the east-side store. There were stacks of mangoes that were so rotten you could smell them before you saw them; priced at 79¢ each. The last time I went I saw a huge shopping cart filed with mashed, over-ripe bananas, 35¢/lb. You can get fresh bananas for 55¢/lb at Copps and they won't rot for a week. I took pictures because I wanted to contact Corporate. A man walked by and asked what I was doing. He said, "It's always like this. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get what they can't sell over at the west-side store." I was at the store at 5 pm on a Friday. No ground chuck or ground beef but there were steaks & the grass-fed hamburger that costs as much as their sirloin; literally empty sheves of whole chiken & no chicken breasts, lots of chicken wings though & there was expensive no hormones, free-range chicken. I don't know what bakery the reviewer was raving about. A quick run-through: different forms of white bread, donuts (that turn to sugary mush after two days), danish of many colors, and pita bread. On the up side, there is a wide selection of canned & dry goods and, to be honest Woodman's has a varied selection of ethnic & health foods. What gets me is nobody at Woodman's East apologizes for the sad state of affairs. And just try to contact the General Office. There is one phone number to a disgruntled employee who has heard it all. She apologizes patronizingly but you know she's not going to pass it along because if Corporate cared, they would give contact information. The only person the Better Business Bureau has on file is Phil Goodman. No contact info. Woodman's isn't even a member of the BBB. Wonder why.

You can't beat the prices. It's pretty easy to find what your looking for and they have anything you need. The liquor store is the one of the best and it's worth driving out of the way to get a cheaper deal. They don't except credit cards which is sometimes inconvenient and it's pretty much always busy.

Best food prices in town! Not quite the selection as west side or Sun prairie, but still good.

Produce is crap. Everything is bruised and battered. Bought a bag of baby carrots here once, got them home and half the bag was rotten. Like, I mean rotten mush. (My fault for not checking it thoroughly). Everything else here is fine. Not a great meat department, meat case consists of deli meats and cheeses only. No fresh seafood or meats. Great selection of cheeses and dairy. Bakery selection is good as well. Choices and prices can't be beat. Go anywhere else and you'll pay twice as much more for most items. Besides the produce, my only complaint is the other shoppers and the narrow aisles If you've seen any old zombie movies, the shuffling walk is what you will find from 70% of the shoppers. DON'T LEAN ON YOUR CART AND SHUFFLE OBLIVOUSLY! Stand up and walk! Be aware of the people around you, and stop clogging aisles by leaving your cart in the middle of the aisle and going to look for items in other aisles! Great beer, wine and liquor selection. Sometimes I wish I would win the lottery so I could buy, then burn down Woodman's, along with everyone else in the store.

- Produce is better than Walmart, but not the best. - Best prices in Madison and monsterously large selection - Pretty much no in aisle customer service (good luck if you need help with anything outside of checking out, or buying a lottery ticket). If you're looking for good customer service, go elsewhere

It's hard to find people who can help you and the store looks a bit dingy but they have a great selection and great prices. I highly recommend their vegan fare but not their fresh produce.
