"Of course, that’s the problem: we aren’t maintaining constant levels of funding to Common Ed. We are siphoning it off to pay for tax breaks to corporations and the wealthy. That’s a judgment call our state Legislature has made. And it’s wrong. Their judgment is wrong. They have decided that it is more politically expedient to sacrifice the potential of us students than to make the difficult call to halt tax breaks or—God forbid—raise taxes. They have decided that our students don’t deserve better. That our teachers don’t deserve better. That our state doesn’t deserve better. And they are absolutely 100% wrong."

Read my take on Thirty Eight Minutes over today's Supreme Court opinion on gay marriage. Hopefully it can help explain some of the legal analysis, and hopefully you can now go about your Facebook discussions with a tad bit more knowledge. And for those who disapprove of this decision, I want to remind you of this: You can disapprove of the Court’s decision but still be happy for the millions of people who are today reveling in love. You can oppose the law without opposing the people affected by the law. You can fight for change without fighting one another. That is the difference between opposition and prejudice. And that is how we can make sure that love really does win.

I recently wrote this article for the Rotary Voices blog in which I talk about one of Rotary's biggest problems. This is especially relevant for my Rotary International and Rotaract friends, but I think it applies to any organization and any endeavor: If you want people to follow you, let them have fun!

I saw this ten-year-old speak in São Paulo and was absolutely blown away. This is a perfect example what you can achieve if you share enough love with the world.

This past week I had the pleasure of attending the 106th Rotary International Convention in São Paulo, Brazil. Aside from spending a week with incredible leaders from around the world, I got to take a moment to hang out with dear friends and Past President and First Lady of Rotary, Ron and Jetta Burton. It is amazing how much good we can achieve in the world when we work together.
