HOW TO CARVE THE BEST SLICES OF HAM. WE’RE PLEASED TO INTRODUCE YOU TO THE BEST HAM CARVER IN SPAIN

Ham is Spain’s star product, but many different factors have to be taken into account before this delicacy can be perfectly enjoyed. One of these is how it is carved, as the taste of each slice very much depends on this. According to expert carvers, each slice should be the size of a credit card, which is a difficult task only achieved by the great masters.

The only thing that Sevillian born José Manuel Hidalgo Molero, a well-known friend of Fuerte Hoteles and regular participant in events held at Fuerte El Rompido, needed to become the best ham carver in Spain at the VI National Ham Carvers Competition, held recently in Madrid, was a good ham support and a well sharpened knife.

GRAN SENDA DE LA SERRANÍA DE RONDA (GR 141): A WALKING CHALLENGE TO ENJOY THE BEST NATURAL SETTING

Who said that holidays are for resting? The best thing about travelling is being able to enjoy the natural environment and do sports while seeing different places, and what better way to enjoy all this than on Greenway GR 141 or Gran Senda de la Serranía de Ronda, a beautiful circular trekking route that is split into six stages and passes through the valleys of the Rivers Guadiaro and Genal, which in the olden days were transited by those who travelled between Serranía and Gibraltar.

The best way to get to know a place is to leave the roads and get into the countryside, and on the Serranía de Ronda via verde, this is the only way, since today’s motorways were not built along the outline of the old paths that connected villages, so there is a whole hidden world that you will be able to discover on this beautiful Ronda via verde.

THE BEST VIRGIN OLIVE OILS IN THE WORLD ARE ANDALUCIAN, WHICH ONES SHOULD WE TRY?

Andalusia has certainly been a land of olive trees for thousands of years. The olive tree dominates the landscape of southern Spain, with more than a million and a half hectares dedicated to its growth and gastronomy, as it is the basis of the Mediterranean diet.

Here the best extra virgin olive oils of the world are manufactured, and it is not the Andalucians who say this. For another year they have been in the 2015 ranking of the World’s Best Olive Oils of the International Oleic Council. Out of the first ten best oils in the ranking, seven are Andalucians. This is because Andalucia is the largest oil producer worldwide, with more than 800 tons (data from 2014 and forecast data from 2015).
