Does anybody know how to disable Firefox themes? I am not looking to disable a particular theme, but shut off the entire feature and force it to use default system colors on Windows 7 (classic theme). I can't seem to find this info anywhere.

I detest software that does not respect my desktop theme. And I would not be using Firefox at all, if it were not for the fact that I need it for web development purposes.

When not using it for web development, I prefer using Pale Moon, which does respect my desktop theme.

I am really enjoying SlackyApp, a dedicated Windows client for Slack , that gets it out of your browser and lets you minimize it to the tray when not in active use. So, if you are using Slack at work, you might want to give this a try.

This is just one of the early beta entries for +DonationCoder's NANY 2015 (New Apps for the New Year) event, that is just starting to kick off.

+Stephen Jones is the developer of SlackyApp. If you like the work he has done, please show your support for his project with donations, encouragement, feature requests, bug reports, etc. on the forum thread.

Just looking for a show of hands. How many of you guys use Slack, the web based chat app, and are running Windows?

I have a friend working on a dedicated Windows client for Slack, that can be minimized to the tray. He will need some beta testers for bug reports, feedback, and feature requests (besides myself), as soon as he adds updating.

+Rob Gordon  Might be something you'd want to look into, then. http://slack.com

It's good for teams and medium to large businesses, for socializing, collaboration, & communication. It's like a mashup of twitter and IRC, but much more private and secure. It can replace email and meetings in many cases, and is fantastic when you have employees spread out across the country/globe, or have a lot of telecommuters.

Looking for a Wordpress gallery/lightbox plugin that will allow multiple galleries in a single page/post, represented as single images. When you click the image, it would open to show the full gallery in a lightbox.
Does anyone know of such a plugin?

I think they misspelled "crappy".

Here is your "creppy" reference - feel free to re-use it.

[ETA:
It's #creppy  and it's #spoopy ,
it's   #eeky  and it's #ooky.
it's   #beeky  and it's   #booky   ...

Wait, did I just type "booky"?]

Tip of the Day  When you put your business's address on your website, double check on Google Maps Street View to see what it shows you, with the address as it is written on your site, just to make sure it's not the middle of a corn field.

I had to grab a map image for a client's site, and when I plugged the address in, Street View showed me a corn field at the location. Had to try a few different variations of the address before I found the shopping center where they are located.

Since 2007 we have held an annual event that we call NANY (New Apps for the New Year), where we ask the coders who hang out on DonationCoder to create some new piece of free software and share it with the world on January 1st of the new year.

There are no winners or losers, it's simply a celebration of programming and creating new software and sharing it with the world.  You can target any operating system (desktop or mobile) or even make a web-based tool.  It can be a game, utility, large application, whatever.

So, you work for the govt and downloaded one of my little freeware apps, and are trying to use it in a purpose and manner for which it was never intended? And you can't get your script to work, so you emailed me to ask me for help writing your script, without mentioning what scripting language you are using? Good thing for you I actually like helping people.

Oh, and be very afraid if the govt is using one of my little freeware apps for security purposes and thinks it's the best solution available.

Yes, it can be useful, but I wouldn't try using the one off my site in a security script.

Story

Coder, artist, writer, music lover, and unpaid freelance content generation consultant.
Introduction

I am a self taught programmer and developer of time management/productivity tools and small desktop utilities, which I release as donationware.

You will never pay more than you can afford or more than you think my software is worth, because I allow you to set the price.

My most popular applications are Instant Boss and Lacuna Launcher.

I am also a very active member in the DonationCoder.com software enthusiasts community, and participate in a number of software related discussions, programming challenges, and occasionally donating my time to create custom software requested by members on the coding snacks section of their forum.

I am a very social person and I love helping people, especially helping others get the most out of the least. I also love free stuff, telling others where to find it, and giving away plenty of it, myself.

I like to create and give away free art, such as desktop wallpapers, screensavers, clipart, Paintshop Pro vectors and tubes, which can be found on both my art site and my personal blog.

I run an elearning directory of free, legally available, programming and technology related ebooks, so those that can't afford books can still have the resources needed to learn.

It can sometimes be hard to find these books, though, so I am collecting all the links and putting them in one place to make it easier to find the ones you need. My ultimate goal is to find and list every free programming related ebook on the internet.

Education
  • Essex College of Business
    Business Administration
I wouldn't expect much in the way of "educated business sense" from someone that went to, but did not graduate from, a small "business school" located in the basement of a department store. I learned more from an Ed Emberley drawing book, than I did from this school.

    Floral design
A friend and I were discussing what jobs would be considered recession proof. We came up with 3: Accountant (businesses still need to hire accountants to tell them how much money they don't have), mortician (a bad economy won't stop people from dying and can even increase business), and florist (when the economy is good, people buy flowers to celebrate...birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, prom, etc. And when things are bad...well you still buy flowers for funerals). We decided on a course in Floral Design. Little did we know when we registered, that this wasn't the way real florists are trained. We didn't find this out till the last week of class, when our teacher told us the real way to go about becoming a florist...which wasn't by taking this course, which the teacher that taught it was under the impression that we were all there just for fun. A completely useless waste of my time and money.

    Make a World
Even the most complex things are made from some very simple parts. Once you train yourself to see those simple parts, problems become easier to solve and the creation of a new world becomes possible. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0316789720/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=0316789720&linkCode=as2&tag=arusso-20
