Building Your Brand.

When you start out with an online business, it can be hard to get heard amongst all the chatter that goes on throughout the World Wide Web. So exactly what differentiates you from the competition, the simple answer is your brand identity, followed by customer service!
To start off any business, you need a brand to build upon. With today’s technology, this is easier in one sense but harder due to the volume of noise out there! There are many reasons to build or enhance your personal brand online. The biggest reason is that it's a digital world - not only do most people search online when looking for information about products and businesses, it's also how they find information about people.
Do you know what people will find if they search for you?
If you're a recent graduate beginning a new business, a new mum looking to launch something to work alongside her family commitments or a retired person looking to earn some extra income for their new found hobbies, of the many people looking to make a career move, make sure you think about your presence on the internet. You can give yourself an extra edge and stand out from the crowd by taking control of your digital footprint. This is by way of registering a domain, proper email address, as Hotmail and Gmail just don’t cut it! You need to look professional, so the basics need to be there without fail. Next you need your domain to say exactly who you are and what you can offer your customers.
It doesn’t have to be complicated all it takes are a few simple steps to build your brand online.
1. Define Your Brand
The most critical decision in personal branding is figuring out what you want to be known for.
For instance, do you want to showcase certain skills, values, knowledge or experiences? The more you can focus in on your unique talents and point-of-view, the better.
The goal is to stand out from your peers and establish a narrative that is authentic and showcases the very best of what you can offer.
2. Choose & Register Your Domain Name
Once you know how you want to define your brand, get your own space on the internet and register a domain name that reflects your brand’s direction.
Registering your name is always a safe bet, but a keyword-rich descriptive domain name can better convey your brand  as well as be more memorable.
You should select a domain name extension (the part after the dot) that's credible and well recognized, however .com or are few and far between, hence why new extensions have been released, such as .restaurant .school .law etc. so choose one that supports your personal brand. 
3. Choose the Right Communication Channel
Next, consider how you want to communicate your message. Your social media pages are a great way to boost your brand, but a personal website can also provide additional flexibility, control and maximum awareness. Think of your website as a shop window on the high street, this is where you will introduce your company, show your location, contact details, but most of all showcase your product or service that you wish to sell. It’s like a catalogue online for customers to browse about your company.
4. Be Consistent in Your Contact
To build trust and confidence, consistency is key. Like strong corporate brands, strong personal brands utilize a carefully chosen set of core principles and messages, and focus on them throughout all aspects of the brand’s execution.
Depending on the communication channels you've opted to use, make sure that you brand your channels and communicate with your audience appropriately, e.g. consistent messaging and frequency. For example, if Twitter is your focus, you should try to post at least one Tweet daily; however if email marketing is your focus, daily emails may be annoying to your audience.
Also, consider creating a branded email address that matches your domain name as explained previously. Branded email can add a sense of professionalism and extend your brand across all of your channels. Plus, people are more likely to view you as credible if you have a branded email address.
If you already have a Gmail account, learn how to forward your new branded email to Gmail so it is a seamless process, although if you start correctly you will have no need for forwarding.
So having thought of all the above, ask yourself the following questions before you start anything, it is always better to be prepared than try and change things later on. 
1.   What is the main core of your business, what are your values and strengths over your competitors?
2.   What is your preferred business name? Does it state what you do, who you are etc?
3.   Logo design, colours and strapline. These need to be consistent across all social channels and paperwork.
4.   What channels of social media suit your product or service best?
5.   Realistically, how often can you take the time to post on social media, daily, weekly etc.

Just because someone is disabled in some way, does not mean they are unable to work! Let's look at the most famous disabled person ever to achieve such greatness he is a household name, yes you guessed it, Stephen Hawking. He was a successful graduate when he was first diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, along with the love of his first wife and the will to overcome his disability over the years, he went on to become one of the most well respected people within his field.

This then brings me onto working from home.  If you do happen to struggle with a conventional job due to a disability, then why not look into affiliate marketing? It could be your key to freedom and financial security.  So many careers are restricted due to a disability; however in today’s world of technology, it is one area that cannot discriminate against any of this.

Mistakes In The First Year Of Affiliate Marketing.

I know this is a lot of text, but believe me, it's worth reading to prevent the main mistakes made in affiliate marketing! When I first started in affiliate marketing, I didn’t quite know what to expect as all I wanted was to just make money. Off I ran in every direction, trying everything, with no real idea of the mistakes I was making that could very well affect my chances at long term success.
Over the last year my experience with both affiliate marketing and teaching other affiliate marketers, I have come to the conclusion that there are 6 mistakes most new affiliate marketers make, and I was no different.
So to help you out, here is the low down on these 6 often made mistakes in affiliate marketing.

1.  Selling Rather Than Helping
Yes, the word “marketing” is part of the phrase affiliate marketing, but for the most part, our job as an affiliate is not to sell, that is the job of the sales page our affiliate links lead the reader to.
When I first started, my overwhelming and totally naïve, impulse was to fill my pages with words and links that screamed “BUY THIS NOW!”. I didn’t help the reader learn why they should have this product. I only wanted them to click a link which would hopefully lead to a commission for me.
Reviews, just look at Amazon, their reason for success is mostly down to reviews.  People love to read about the product from a genuine person who has either bought it or used the product and has little to gain in actually selling. Leave the selling to the company page, not your affiliate home page.
When we talk more like an unbiased reviewer rather than a high-pressure salesperson, we will find we make more sales and people will come back for advice on other products in the future.

2. Too Many!
This is another big mistake I have noticed people doing. They join any and every affiliate program they come across. While I absolutely do believe in cultivating multiple streams of income when working online, there is a point where you have too much to deal with and it becomes unmanageable. After all, it comes back to review help again, if you have too much how can you possibly know all the products!
Choose your affiliate programs wisely and don’t overload yourself. It's like choosing off a menu at a restaurant, the more choice the longer it takes you to decide.

3. Not Testing
Always test the sign ups, links etc. yourself.  There is nothing worse than ruining your relationship and trust with your customers because you failed to test a link and then before you know your email is full of spam because the company have an extremely off putting sales tactics. Always know the process you are recommending, right down to the way the company will contact your customer afterwards.

4. Not Tracking
I like promoting Amazon products on my site, but would forget to use unique tracking affiliate links on each page.
Why is this a mistake? Very simple, when you make a sale, you want to know WHERE the sale came from. This enables you to know which pages are converting well so you can grow and scale that campaign.
Creating a unique tracking ID for an Amazon link is easy. Simply log in to your Amazon affiliate dashboard, click “Account Settings” at the very top on the right, then click “Manage Tracking IDs”. From there you can make a new tracking ID so you can track which web page/campaign sold what.  You can learn more about using Amazon’s Tracking on their webpage
Yes, making any commission is cool, but knowing where and how you made that commission is what makes you a better marketer. It lets you grow and scale your campaigns, as opposed to working blindly.

5. Not Comparing
One of the best converting tactics I use to sell affiliate products online (especially physical products from Amazon) is to compare the “main” product with two other similar products.
When people are in buying mode for a physical product, they tend to have their options narrowed down to 2 or 3 and need help making the choice that is best for them.
By comparing the “3 Best Juicers”, I not only help my readers make a choice, but I also have my affiliate links there for THREE products instead on only one.
Over time, when I track that web page, I will be able to see which product is most interesting to readers and move the best converting product to the top of the page for better CTR.
Comparison web pages are not only very popular and helpful for readers, they are also very profitable for you.

6. Make Money Online Products
Perhaps you’ve seen this before. You’re in a “learn online marketing” type forum. A person publishes a post complaining that they can’t make a dime online. But in their signature line they have something along the lines of “I Made 50 Million Dollars with This” followed by their affiliate link.
It’s tacky and not convincing, for the reason being if you made this much you would not be posting on a webpage but sitting in the Caribbean somewhere sipping a rum punch!
If you’re new and you want to promote products in the Make Money Online arena, don’t make false claims that it made you money. In fact, don’t make false claims at all!

Talk about the benefits as this is more likely to achieve you credibility.
Finally, affiliate marketing is a business that requires self-motivation and focus.

Once you are aware of the mistakes that can cause a lack of profits and productivity, you will be better able to grow your business and be profitable long-term.

How To Make Money From Home.


There are many ways on how to make money from home and you can find lots of options when searching on the internet.
Before I began my online business, I was searching daily and came across all sorts of different options.  Yes, there were some that stood out to me with all the pictures, flash houses and the top performing sports cars. All quoting "You Too Could Have This Lifestyle" with just a few clicks of your computer mouse a day!

I have been self employed for most of my life and have worked extremely hard for what I have achieved.  I am no computer expert, so I find it hard to believe that someone like myself with no computer background, could simply click my mouse and earn a £1000 a day.  If it was that simple, we would all be millionaires!
I did investigate further into a few of these companies, I think more so out of curiosity and, if I am completely honest there was two that I considered joining.
I will be talking about these companies within the coming weeks in my blog, revealing all, good and the bad.
I have written in previous posts about jobs that are available online.  For me these are jobs that are not going to bring me the financial satisfaction and freedom I have set out to achieve.

All you need to get going, is your computer, some time and have a interest in learning more about something you already have a passion for.

First and foremost, don't think for one minute that you have to be a computer expert. I have very basic computer skills and the thought of working online on my computer at first was terrifying, however I have learnt a lot over the past few months. There are computer books for beginners, along with local libraries that offer basic computer courses at very little cost, or you can solve your problems by searching online. The programme I work alongside has a 24/7 live chat, which has a fantastic response time in answering and solving your queries.

Time is a huge key in the success of your business. I have been self employed for many years and have set up numerous businesses. You will not earn money overnight. There are some businesses that do take off straight away, however in comparison to the amount of new businesses being set up this is a very small percentage. Time is money as they say, If you are willing to put in the time combined with determination, you are certainly on your way to making a successful online business.

If working online is totally new to you (like it was with me) then the learning process takes time.  Believe me there is a lot to learn. What I can say is, the step by step training on offer is so easy to follow, plus you can refer back to this at anytime. Personally, I  love to learn new things and what a great feeling it is when you start to see your business progress.

Everybody has an idea running through their mind everyday, hour or minute. So why not turn your idea into your own online business. There are billions of people searching online everyday. The Burning Question, How Much Is This Going To Cost?

I would never tell you that you are going to be successful online and its going to be free. Like I mentioned earlier, there are too many companies out there offering "get rich quick" schemes which rightly so leave people feeling sceptical about joining such programmes.
The great thing about the programme I enrolled on is that it is completely free for you to try. You can get a feel on how everything works, plus get involved within the network of people who are actually running online businesses now. If you decide you would like to continue then personally I would recommend you join with a monthly subscription, where you will have access to full support 24/7 as and when you need it.
One thing I would like you to consider is that if you were planning on setting up a business, say for example a retail outlet. You need to account for the following:

RENT: Rent, rates and other business expenses to pay out, so in comparison to these set up and ongoing costs, the monthly subscription is much less.

WORKING HOURS: Opening hours where you will be on a timed schedule, whereas working from home you can choose your own hours.

CLIENT CATCHMENT: Your client base within the internet will be much higher, as apposed to clients in your catchment area only generating local sales and income.

Top Tips On How To Write Great Content For Your Website.

The key to writing great content for your website is all in the accuracy, detail and real life experience that your readers can relate to. Some people write articles with similar content but nobody writes exactly the same. Whilst others find writing easy you may find you have a complete mental block, whereby nothing comes to mind. If you are new to writing content then take note of these five key points on how to achieve interesting and factual content for your website, so your readers keep coming back for more.

1. Article Title, Say What It Is Immediately.
Engaging your visitor with your title is so important. It needs to capture your visitor  immediately to want to read on further to the next paragraph.  Like planting a seed but not telling what type of flower it is! Your next paragraph needs to be equally engaging, this is where you have the chance to capture your visitor in wanting to continue to find out more information on what you are promoting and hopefully what they will be purchasing. Whilst it's not all about the sell, you need to give them the idea to browse on additional pages within your site, which in time will lead to them becoming a regular visitor.  Always keep on topic, as people follow you for this reason, not to be sent off in a totally different direction, this way you will keep a loyal base of followers.

2. Write As If You Are Having a Conversation.
Sometimes when I read posts on websites I find some very regulated and robotic. One thing you need to remember is that when you are writing/promoting you are actually taking this action to interact with an actual real life buyer.  So write conversationally as if you are having the conversation with your visitor right here and now. Interacting with people in this way will gain trust and will help with return visits to your website. If they can personally feel like you know them and want to help they will feel more comfortable and ultimately remember the site and return.

3. Be Truthful On What You Are Promoting
Honesty is a major point here! With all the fake news buzzing around, people need to know what is fact if you are to have any success in promoting a product. I have a strong successful sales background and I truly believe that this has come from believing in the product I am selling. Do not lie about a particular feature, it's not worth it. Your aim is to gain trust here and create repeat visitors to your site.  So if you advised a product had a 5* rating and the product was actually called off the shelves due to poor manufacturing for example, I'm not sure your buyers will be purchasing on your recommendations again, do you? Also there is a possibility that there are other reviews of the same products out there that customers can check out so beware of false statements, no matter how small you think they are!

4. Get Humorous, Lighten Up The Sales Pitch.
Its great to add some fun to your websites/posts/blogs as everything does not have to be so serious all the time, this proves you are real and a normal person just like them. Everyone loves a bit of a laugh and why not. Don't be tempted to add humour to your more formal pages etc like your reviews, as you do not want visitors wondering how to take you.  They need to know that what you say when making a statement on a product is completely true and not an off the cuff joke.

5. Get Visual with Eye Catching Images/Videos.
It's a known fact that a picture says a thousand words. Images are beautiful, colourful and eye-catching. Great images will enhance your website above your competitors. There is nothing worse than heading over to a website that is text heavy. Websites that lack colour and images, really have no point! Todays consumer is hugely visual. Try adding some personal pictures such as you working, testing a product etc. Don't forget we are aiming to build up some good longstanding relationships here. Videos are also a must where possible, again it comes back to visual consumers, and now more than ever with live videos on your social streams. There are 4,950,000,000 videos being watched everyday on You Tube alone. If you are connected on any social network you will know what we are talking about here. Videos going viral....these can be truly amazing and powerful for your website ranking. On one of my previous business Facebook pages I added a video of my daughter and we generated over a 1000 views and likes (from a 1 minute video).
If in doubt, always ask someone else to read you post, they will see it with fresh eyes and can see if it makes sense and captures their interest on the product.  Bear in mind, you already know the product, they don't!
