passionate about technology enhanced learning. Started out with eLearning, than going into mLearning and now realizing that ubiquitous learning ... will bring all differentiated technology enhanced learning back to the term learning. I currently work at the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Belgium and I am starting my exploratory thesis work for a M. Ed, in Distance Education at Athabasca University in Canada. My main interests are innovative learning methods (MOOC's, socio-constructivist learning), lifelong learning, social media for learning, network for knowledge... well anything that involves learning and connecting to improve knowledge (while using technology).

Nice reports on Technology Enhanced Learning evolutions in 2016, also providing a longitudinal analysis of TELearning over the last 15 years. The focus is on Higher Ed in the UK, but the strategies, tools, and evolutions are recognisable for more than only the UK region. One clear item: invest in TELearning staff.... yes!

After watching the first solo press conference using 'fake news' over and over again... I had to start writing on media literacy, fake news... linking to various educational tech people, and hope that at some point we will all sit together in the pub again, and discuss big affairs with all of our different viewpoints, and actually describing what we think is behind the easy sentence: "this is fake news, it is fake, that is what it is".

Interesting report on innovative pedagogies, recently published and made freely available by IET at OU in the UK and Learning sciences lab in Singapore. Looks at blockchain learning, teachback, video, social media, crowdlearning, translanguaging, productive failure... really interesting and shared with some comments of my own.

Someone to keep in mind for future workshops around openness, and online safety is Christian Friedrich. I followed a trial run of his workshop and it really triggered my thoughts.

If at a conference, and some of your peer experts on educational technology cannot join you on location, then the Virtual Connecting option might add an extra dimension and get people talking on site and online. I really found this hybrid meeting very inspiring. Have a look at the format, and contact someone of the VConnecting team (or subscribe to their hangout / youtube channel.
