For the first time in my life I bought something from one such call recently and yes you guessed it, it was my local wine merchant who had clearly got my details from their loyalty card database.

Lovely Weekend in Hunter Valley, Over 35 degrees, Lovely Food and Wine, well worth a visit.

The highlight of the afternoon was a great tour with a small group of enthusiastic visitors to the region with a shared passion for food and wine. The pairing with 9 different cheeses at the two fat blokes HQ was fun.

Dark ruby in color with a wide brick rim. Nice nose of blueberries, cherries, black currants, wood, barnyard, dark chocolates, coffee, tobacco, cloves, earth, light vanilla, vegetables, tar, forest floor, vinaigrette and black pepper. Medium plus in body…

Mellow, creamy, under tones of vanilla and raspberries and ice cream. What a lovely wine.

 Its ruby red to the edge of the wine, berries and plums are in there somewhere but the smooth creamy taste makes it a great wine for non red wine drinkers

I am enjoying a number of very nice Pinot Noirs from Central Otago. I was lucky enough to try an excellent Cabernet Sauvignon from Waiheke Island....

If you like Bordeaux style wines this is the closest I have found so far in Australia...
