Mediagoblin's crowdfunding campaign just reached 60k$ (http://mediagoblin.org/news/last-day-of-campaign-second-milestone-in.html) which was the second goal, and it's aiming for the third. This oss media sharing service, to be federated this year thanks to the crowdfunders, has got a lot of momentum. I admit to being myopic about it, so if you all know a better alternative please let me know, but if you care about privacy and have some spare dollars here you go: http://mediagoblin.org/pages/campaign.html (ignore the 61193/60000, should read 61193/100000).

What kind of rates are you seeing on this? I'm using gatttool / similar simple program to connect to an RFduino (rfduino.com, nordic nRF51822) and am seeing just ~9kbps while the RFduino documentation claims it can reach 32.

Bad science is also bad for the war on the war on drugs:
“Eighty to 90 percent of people are not negatively affected by drugs, but in the scientific literature nearly 100 percent of the reports are negative,” Dr. Hart said. “There’s a skewed focus on pathology. We scientists know that we get more money if we keep telling Congress that we’re solving this terrible problem. We’ve played a less than honorable role in the war on drugs.” -- Dr. Carl Hart (http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/17/science/the-rational-choices-of-crack-addicts.html?pagewanted=2&_r=2&smid=fb-share&)

From the department of converting the converted: here is a short twenty minute interview of the eloquent Law professor Gary Francione about why he became a vegan and the difference between animal welfare and animal rights (in a nut shell - but as someone once told me, nut shells only leave you with chipped teeth).

מומלץ לכל מי שלא מכיר את הנושא. בהצלחה לכולם.

That's it, no more kickstarters this month. Kickstarter needs a queue.
