Although we have winter ahead, now is an excellent time to consider planting a spring-flowering tree. A tree planted now will have its complete blooming period in your landscape, not some at the store lot and only a fraction at your home.

What’s more, all spring-flowering trees at The Rock Pile are 50% off. We have a good selection of lovely crabapples, dogwoods, magnolias, and redbuds to light up your spring landscape. It truly is a great time to complete “next year’s spring project” this fall! (Matt Misecik)

Plant Winter Rye in the fall to improve your soil for spring! Winter Rye crowds out weeds, making herbicides unnecessary. When tilled under in the spring, the plant breaks down quickly and adds organic matter to soil, improves drainage, and enhances the soil’s ability to hold nutrients.

Broadcast at a rate of two pounds per 1,000 square feet. Then rake lightly (just enough to cover the seed) and then water. Let nature do your work for you!
