A Rocky Mountain High-Retirement That is!
Over the Christmas holidays, we drove to Dallas for Christmas.  Since it was scheduled to be eighty degrees both on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, we stowed our coats in the back of the car, rather than in the back seat.  As we were approaching the beauti...

Setting a Few Retirement Goals
Here we are in the new year, but I have yet to set New Year's Goals, resolutions or even pick a word for the year.  Call me unfocused! I guess that while I do have goals, dreams and things I want to get done, I'm not sure I'm up to planning for, or committi...

Single Retirement-Making Connections
One of the (few) things I miss about moving from Texas to Colorado almost three years ago now is my old women's group. Church based, we met as a small group every other week for sharing, meditation, companionship and food. As someone who was a much newer wi...

Retirement on $30,000-the Plans for 2016
I hope everyone had a lovely holiday. For myself?  I traveled, I barely missed a killer tornado in Texas, and I experienced 80 degrees on Christmas day. I celebrated three separate Christmases if you will, and never got out of my Jammie's on Christmas day. ...

Making Christmas Work - For Me
December has arrived in full, with all it's glory-and all it's frenzy. Stores are stocked to the gills, the groceries are selling turkeys and prime rib.  While it's a joyous occasion, finding a balance can be difficult. Everyone has their own path for havin...

Exploring Colorado-Cherokee Castle and High Tea
You know, no matter where we live,  we have probably not seen everything there is to see and do in our own little corner of the world.  I lived in Washington DC for twenty years and still have not been to every museum and monument in that town. One of my go...

Supporting The Widow or Widower.....Thoughts of The Day
One of the things I've been meaning to write about on this retirement blog is widowhood. It's something I rarely touch on. While I have lots to write about, two people have asked me specifically about how to talk to or include widowed friends. Since I'm cra...

Medicare, Oh Medicare-The First Steps
In September, I turned 64. No sooner did my birthday approach, than I began to receive slews and slews of Medicare information. So much information in fact, that I double checked my birthday and age. I mean, why were all these folks sending me all this stuf...

A Girl and Her New Toys-The Stuff That Makes The Experiences!
Sometimes it seems like my retirement life alternates between the mundane and those busy, active, mainly fun days.  Certainly this is true of life in general, but sometimes as I do those everyday tasks of cleaning, errands, and putting away Christmas decora...

Peace on Earth, Good Will To All........
No, I did not desert you all again, at least not on purpose. First, my laptop died, and I am not yet adept at doing the kind of typing required on my little tablet. I now have another, working laptop. In addition, almost every time I started to blog, the to...

SAY Something.
Monday night I attended my weekly in depth history of the bible class. While this class is the study of the Bible and it's cultural and historical perspective, it's also about growing as mature Christians.  Last night our theological reflection if you will ...

As someone who travels with pets, we were disappointed. After reading the pet policy completely online, there was no mention of the fact that pets could not be left in the rooms while we went out. In fact, we do this all the time-and have done so in Best Westerns from Missoula to Clayton Texas (our dogs are well behaved). The website states pet deposit as well as numbers and wight allowed but in no way says that dogs cannot be left in rooms, even in crates. We managed well for three days, but will be traveling back to the black hills, and staying in another hotel. Also, we had no wifi. Fortunately I have fourg.

Very professional and easy to work with. Fernando was very unobtrusive but took piles of wonderful pictures. Some of the pictures were truly amazing and the photos came back very quickly! A delight to work with and we loved pictures. A wonderful job and I would definitely hire Fernando again! Thanks so much! 21:17 May 20, 2014
