Another fun gig, playing flashmob-style for an impromptu performance of Swan Lake at the VUE cinema complex in Westwood Cross, with Thanet Stage School starlets; to draw attention to the live stream from the +Royal Opera House on Tuesday.

Hard to believe we used to gig together... and we may even have got Ali her first headline gig (at +St Nicholas-at-Wade Church back in 2011). An incredible singer (and lovely person), finally on the road to stardom. 💕 https://alice.lnk.to/GIRLSXBOYS

A video record of Thanet Light Orchestra's recent charity concert in Ramsgate - as always, some lesser-known works. One of the composers in particular seems to have been quite a character!

Few orchestral players or session musicians say anything good about conductors... most get rated somewhere between 'awful' and 'absolutely awful' (although playing under Abbado in an international youth orchestra some decades back was a great experience).

This week we experienced 4 conductors in 4 days, for just 2 pieces: in one case an organizer standing in until the celebrity conductor arrived, in the other a well-meaning amateur doing his best until the group sacked him.

The difference in each case was astounding - much less stress, much better results. Maybe we'll have to include "not so bad" in future ratings.

The complete playlist for a recent fund-raising concert in our 'sister' church in the Wantsum Benefice: St Mary the Virgin, Minster (Thanet). It raised nearly £1000 for the organ fund! Many thanks to the +Impromptu Ensemble and all the choirs who took part.

We've played violins, violas, organs, oboes, flutes, celli and more in gorilla costumes to support this noble cause - please donate if you can. #GGR
As Ozaru (大猿) means "Great Ape" we naturally had to take part in the #GreatGorillaRun again this year. So far we've raised over £600... but we're still far short of our target, and the Gorilla Organization (+The Official Page of the Gorilla Organization and the Great Gorilla Run) still needs more donations to help it support the critically endangered mountain gorillas in Rwanda, Uganda and DRC - in harmony with the human communities around them - so even if you can only spare a little, do please sponsor us via: https://www.justgiving.com/ozaru2017
