Sad to hear that Broadstairs Music Recital Society's next concert will be their last. We did their first (and 3 more) http://www.broadstairsmusic.org.uk/

Exceptional concerts continue at our local village church in Thanet - this time with guest artistes the Hermitage Ensemble from Russia!
We're looking forward to a special concert next month - on Tuesday 21 March 2017, St Nicholas-at-Wade church will be hosting some Russian Vocal Virtuosi – the Hermitage Ensemble from St Petersburg, an Orthodox male voice choir comprising some of the top soloists from the city's opera, ballet, theatre and concert groups. The programme will contain a variety of sacred hymns, popular folk songs, and more modern hits.

For more details see our village ‘News’ page at http://bit.ly/StNickNews or the Facebook ‘event’ page at https://www.facebook.com/events/322491044785905/

Visually not very exciting, perhaps, but for those who prefer to listen to their music... ;-)

Here's a record of Thanet Light Orchestra's recent concert at the The Salvation Army in Ramsgate. Particular highlight: Jamie Rogers playing Mozart's piano concerto in A (no. 23) with the orchestra, followed by some stunning solo jazz piano as an encore.

The rest of the programme included some well-known pieces (Mozart's Haffner Symphony, 1st movement; Arthur Benjamin's Jamaican Rumba; Richard Rodgers's Selection from Oklahoma!, Ronald Binge's Elizabethan Serenade), some possibly familiar items (Walford Davies's Royal Air Force March Past), and some works you're unlikely to have heard anywhere else (Gabriel Sebek's In the Soudan with Vicky Matthews as soloist, Eric Coates's The Three Men suite, and Albert Ketèlbey's Wedgwood Blue).

It's not perfect - certainly a "warts & all" performance - but should be interesting to some.

Playing around a bit with master Mozart... a jazzed-up string quartet version of the 'Serenade in G', incorporating a few other of his tunes.
