Summertime is approaching, are you getting your assignments finished? Some homeschooling families take summer off, some do not. Whichever you do, be sure to find some time to let your students play and participate in summer activities. My favorite is swimming, what is yours?

Yes, it's okay to let your kids do their schoolwork outside. Don't let it become a distraction, or a daily routine. Let it be something you do once in awhile to change the scenery.

Take some time to volunteer as a family. It's good to teach your students to give selflessly to great causes as a child, because when they grow up they will continue to give selflessly.

Encourage your students to become the most prolific writers they can be. Knowing how to write well is so important in college, and in the work force. Learning to express yourself with written word and speech is crucial to success.

Encourage your students to take pride in their world. Be sure and proof-read what you write, use complete sentences even when it isn't a requirement, and don't procrastinate and hurry. Remind them they only are going to experience school through one season in their life, and it's important that they do it properly.
