Kait Kingston is a freelance singer and singing coach in Salt Lake City, UT and is the founder and director of The Performer Studio, a school for singers.
Kait Kingston grew up in Salt Lake City, UT. As a child, she was a featured, international touring dancer with both Children's Dance Theatre (CDT) and Repertory Dance Theatre (RDT) until the age of 12 when she developed severe Rheumatoid Arthritis which ended her growing dance career. This directed Kait into other performance mediums. She was the drummer for the Rowland-Hall St. Marks high school rock band, 'Rowtown' before heading to the University of Utah where she completed her BFA from the Actor Training Program. She moved to California for 8 years where she completed both her MFA in Musical Theatre from San Diego State University and post graduate Voice Study with world renowned voice teacher, Edward Sayegh in Los Angeles. While in Los Angeles, Kait performed and also worked as a session singer for various composers and bands singing styles of music from rock and blues to pop, jazz and musical theatre projects. She performed mostly with her own blues band ('The Kait Kingston Band') where she headlined at venues like BB Kings in Hollywood, The Blue Cafe in Long Beach and the famous 'Brown Derby'. She also performed as a featured lead singer with blues great, John Lee Hooker Jr. on his western US tour singing on legendary songs like 'Boom Boom'. After returning to Salt Lake in 2004, Kait wrote, performed and recorded as the lead singer for the band 'Light Vizion' and co-produced the bands' debut album 'Looking For An Angel'. She has also returned to her dance beginnings by performing and recording with SLC dance companies, Rire Woodbury and CDT. Kait, a full-time voice and performance coach at The Performer Studio coaches students of all ages and abilities how to find themselves through song and realize the greatness that lies within them. She continues work as a freelance singer and is in production for her newest solo album, to be released in the summer of 2013.
