Researching your Irish roots? This could be good news:

'The National Archives of Ireland is expected to release online their collection of Irish census fragments on Monday 28 April. We are not quite sure of the scope and depth of this release, but it certainly has the potential to be big news for anyone with Irish ancestors. Access will be free.'

NB when they say 'fragments', they really do mean fragments. Chances are I won't find anything about my lot there - but perhaps you will?

It's National Family History Month in Australia and New Zealand! http://www.familyhistoryweek.org.au/
Since I won't be able to get to any of the events, this is how I'm marking it, with a lot of Delaneys and their spouses: http://rebelhand.wordpress.com/2013/08/01/national-family-history-month-and-some-of-my-ancestors/

The battle of Vinegar Hill, near Enniscorthy, Co Wexford, was the final blow to the Irish Rebellion of 1798.
They've been recreating it this weekend. Here's some background and an extract from the book...
