I love this post and its timing is perfect! I've always played it very very safe with my 8 year old gelding. Over the past year, I realized we've made hardly any progress and neither of us seem to be as happy as we used to be. I've vowed to start pushing both of us out of our comfort zone...leaving the "safety" of the barn (right now just hand walking but we'll ride soon). Because of this, we now have a mixture of good, bad and okay days. I'm not going to's a little frustrating because I'd like to have more good days then bad days but right now it's not like that since we're in the beginning of this particular journey. I also need to make more progress on being a good, calm leader. Your post has reminded me to be consistent, be patient and there will be a light at the end of the tunnel. :)

Basic Information
If you're looking for a great small animal vet hospital in the area, try Angel Oak! I had an old cranky female cat that was super defensive. In the past, vets would sedate her before they even touched would take her 2 weeks to recover from going to the vet. Angel Oak handled Ashley gently without sedating her...they even pulled blood without an issue! I now take my two kittens there...all the staff is friendly and SUPER helpful! I live on Johns Island now but if I ever move, I'll continue taking my cats to Angel Oak.
