😱 L A S H C R I M E S 😱

As lash artists we know that quality is mission critical on all levels when it comes to creating stunning lash extensions for our clients. Quality of product, artistry and customer care all play a huge role in the final result and happy returning faces. We understand that clients give us incredible trust when it comes to their beauty, safety and also the value of service they receive. We often see new clients that come through our doors asking for a “fix”. Usually a fix means, correcting and undoing some serious lash crimes, often due to untrained application and very low quality “cheap” adhesives and lashes and general lack of care.

Not only are we lash artists ourselves, but we are also lash addicts and love our own lash extensions. So that’s why it breaks our hearts to see a lash fix come through our doors.

At the shop we only source and provide lash artists with the highest quality products. Products that we also use on our own clientele and on ourselves! The difference in quality pictured above is truly incredible and worth the happy, smiling returning clients that we all love seeing again.

Besides their biological functions, our eyelashes have also served as a sort of accessory for our day to day and going out looks; they have been primped and primed in every which way since ancient times depending on the trends.

During ancient egyptian times both men and women darkened their eyelashes with kohl and ointments or malachite (which was thought to be an aphrodisiac). On the other hand during the middle ages the forehead was considered the sexiest part of a woman’s face, so in order to emphasize the forehead women would shave off both their eyebrows and eyelashes (we’re glad that trend didn’t last!).

Fast forward to 1916, film director D.W. Griffith wanted Seena Owen (an actress in his movie Intolerance) to “have lashes that brushed her cheeks, to make her eyes shine brighter than life.” Her lashes were made of human hair woven through a fine gauze by a local wig maker. It was at this time we began to see something closer to our current eyelash trends.

The current trend for the classic individual eyelash extensions started in Japan in the early millenium and became popular in the U.S. around 2004. Volume lashes however, began in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 2011 by a lash stylist named Olga Debronravova, who had been applying lashes with .10 and later discovering .07 to create an even fuller look by adding multiple lashes in the shape of a W without weighing down the natural eyelash.
