PUPPY REX ! year Old to be destroyed Tues May 12 Brooklyn NY
First and most importantly, Rex is a healthy and friendly young dog of only around 1-year old. He’s a pit bull mix who arrived at the shelter beside his likely litter mate,TWIN – A1034630, and he’s a small, thin boy of just over 40-pounds. Both boys were surrendered by their owner who claimed personal problems. Nothing like dumping a life threatening problem on your family members. Rex is first on the list to die tomorrow afternoon if someone isn’t smitten with him in time to save his life. Both boys need to gain a few pounds, but they will still be on the smaller side. The dogs appear not to have led an easy life. Both Rex and Twin have nails that are worn down to the quick, so they’ve either been hitting the pavement, or they’ve been chewing on their nails. It’s just amazing how a dog who has not been shown much human kindness can be so open-hearted toward our kind. Rex needs help pronto. Please come to escort him to a new home.

SENIOR DIAMOND 8 Years Old to be destroyed Tues May 12 Manhattan NY
A volunteer writes: Will the real Diamond please sit up? Surrendered by the only family she’s ever known along with her son, Rocko, Diamond is shaken to the core. We’re told that she needs time to warm up to strangers, and we’re all strangers here in this new place with new smells and noise. Gone is everything that is familiar to her. Once Diamond knows someone we’re told that she likes to jump up and “love on people”, but she’s a long way from showing us that side of her. Reluctant to be leashed, reluctant to be touched, she’ll need time in a new home to decompress and feel the love. Her former family told us their favorite thing about her is how connected to her son Rocko (A1034368) she is, as they sleep together on one couch or blanket. She’s affectionate to the 5 year child she’s spent time with, and loves to play fetch. Like Rocko, she’s been lovingly taken care of, her coat soft and gleaming and her weight perfect for her size. Her leash manners are perfect, she doesn’t solicit or welcome affection at this point and seems distracted as she looks for something, anything that is familiar to her. A proven family dog with glowing comments from her former people, Diamond is hoping for a new family to love. Ask to meet her today; the ‘real’ Diamond will definitely reappear once back in a home surrounded with love. Another volunteer writes: They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend but our Diamond doesn’t play favorites — she wants to be everyone’s best friend! She may have taken a few days to adjust but now this beautiful mama is keen to get up close and personal with visitors and every man, woman, child and dog is welcomed with easy good manners and gentle sniffing. She enjoys cuddling on the bench and once I initiate a smooch session she even sneaks in a few sweet kisses of her own. It’s clear that her former owner’s comments were no exaggeration and this beautiful gal truly is a wonderful family-friendly pet. Diamond shines brighter with each passing day and she’d love to snuggle her way into your heart as soon as possible!

SENIOR HAZEL 8 Years Old to be destroyed Sat May 9 Manhattan NY
A volunteer writes: Hazel really misses her family and it shows, the happy smile and wagging tail noted on her arrival papers are no more and all my camera captures is the serious face and sad eyes of a dog bereft. In her previous life Hazel lived and played nicely with 4 kids of various ages and was described as ‘friendly’, ‘outgoing’ and ‘exuberant’. She loved hanging out with her four-legged pals at the dog park, was always respectful of the cats she met and when asked about any possible behavioral issues she might have, the only box her people ticked was ‘None’. Hazel’s said to be very house trained (amply demonstrated for me!) and will pace at the door to let you know she needs to go ‘potty’ and on leash she walked quite nicely, stopping to sniff every inch of her new surroundings. Once free in a pen she remains quiet and introspective, allowing all my petting (and kissing), laying her head on my lap and showing off her ‘sit’ in return for treats but not interested in chasing a ball or letting loose with a game of tag. Hazel’s world has lost its luster without the people she loves in it but adopt her, take her home and show her some TLC and I’ll bet a big box of kibble this sweet, laid-back girl will be smiling again in no time.

Can you please pass this on? "LUCKY" Is a very energetic, very affectionate blue nose who's owner is desperatly looking for a new home for him. She is being forced to move and can't take Lucky with her. He is also too strong for her and she can't train or take care of him. Lucky is in the egg harbor township area of NJ, and we are afraid if he goes to a shelter he won't come back out. Please if you or anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated!!!
