Press Release
Clacton’s creation to be theme for 2015 Beer festival
It was in 1865 that Peter Bruff purchased the first 50 acres of land that was to become Clacton on Sea and Tendring CAMRA will be marking the 150th anniversary by making it the theme for this year’s Clacton Beer Festival.
The first planning meeting took place in the Blacksmith’s Arms in Little Clacton last night and the theme was unanimously endorsed by the local CAMRA volunteers who organise the festival.
Branch Chairman, Jeff Luesley, says
“There can be no more appropriate theme for the Clacton Beer Festival than to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Peter Bruff’s purchase of the first piece of land.  It will be great to raise a glass of real ale to the beginning of Clacton on Sea!”
Tendring CAMRA will be working closely with local historian, Norman Jacobs, in the run up to the festival which will take place from Wednesday 16th to Saturday 29th August in St James’ Hall, Tower Road, Clacton.
“The first part of Peter Bruff’s incredible project was the building of Clacton Pier and the rest, as they say, is history,” continued Jeff Luesley.  “This is a very important year for Clacton and Tendring CAMRA will be doing its bit to mark the occasion.”
