Happy Tabletop Day!

The Allied forces successfully stormed the beach, much to my disappointment.

I've been rereading Crystal Clear lately. Working at a small, rapidly growing software company, this book has a lot of excellent ideas that apply to issues we're facing. I'm glad I work for a company that I can help change and improve, despite not being the most senior developer.

A big takeaway for me with this book is reflection. It reminded me that I've not been taking adequate time to reflect and think about what I'm learning. I've learned so much in the past two years.

Here's to thinking about thinking and self-improvement!

About time for this to happen!
Starting today, the Google Cast SDK is available for developing and launching Google Cast Ready-apps. The SDK is simple to integrate into existing apps, and is available cross-platform for Android, web, and iOS developers.

All Chromecast devices have been updated to the latest software with support for the SDK, and you can get started by heading to the Google Cast Developers site (http://goo.gl/IAakWP) and checking out our sample apps (http://goo.gl/NYrnUl).

Let us know what you think: https://developers.google.com/cast/community .

Happy casting!

I don't like the tone of this article. So he enjoys things that his friends don't. Why is it newsworthy that he avoids partying for playing a game? Why is it weird?

I want to learn more about this game, but I'm having a hard time getting past the Kickstarter video. It's so bad.

Over the holidays I played a few games of Terra Mystica, which is a board game about terraforming landscapes and spreading your empire. Think Settlers of Catan, but with a much more dense board and about 10 other mechanics.

I really enjoy the game and I think that despite large number moving parts, the game's "engine" runs really smoothly - there aren't a lot of fiddly bits to mess with between rounds. Things flow really well once everyone is familiar with how the game works.
