And of course, as Monsanto used to say (in one of it's more sinister adverts): "without chemicals, life itself would be impossible."

Hi, Mark -- don't worry, I already have a publisher, but I did want to say hi and thanks for this. Your advice is definitely valid but the sort of truisms which are often overlooked. I certainly got my own publisher because of such personal interactions (and of course because I, too, am a nearly spectacular writer). I actually believe that it is these sorts of meetings and interactions which make most of the world go around.

Hi, Ute. Yes, I love when these synchronicities happen and I enjoy finding meaning in them, although Brian would be horrified to hear me say it! One synchronicity is that I was sitting on Martha's Vineyard this summer as all the sharks we're paying their visits, and as anniversary celebrations for the making if Jaws we're happening on our little island. If's fun to have that connection with you. And best of luck with the book!

It is difficult to know how to comment on this without sounding simplistic, but I did want to say that I am sorry you have had to endure so much, and that I, for one, do appreciate all that you have done and despite it all, continue to do for the poetry world, or at least my little corner of it, which is all that I can speak to. Wishing you well...

This reminds me of a joke I often make while sitting in the car, but one based on a real question. In some cars, there us a dial where you can fix the heat on one side of the car to 1 temperature and the other to another temperature. Clearly, the space must be too small for differing temps to really happen, and so the joke question is why doesn't a storm break out somewhere in the middle. But really, doesn't this just mean there will be a mixture of temps throughout the front seat, ie, yet another marketing ploy. Any thoughts?
