Nowadays we're supposed to cast off our grandparents old time religious values, for a new/old spiritual one based on a human value system. The more things change as they say, the more they stay the same. The human condition as such is unable to overcome himself. We can lie to ourselves, but at the end of the day as the bible describes, the heart of man is desperately wicked.
As Solomon is alleged to have said, "There's nothing new under the sun."
This is why he suggest's that we seek after wisdom. (While it may be found...) We take it for granted that it'll always be there. We have two world wars to show that we don't.
Warfare is the principal preoccupation of mankind. We continue to make the same mistakes over and over again. There's plenty of blame to go all around. We pretend that there's a political solution to a spiritual problem.
The day is coming when the entire world will be brought to it's collective knees.Only after we've exhausted our every chance, and almost destroyed ourselves in the process will we finally come to the inescapable conclusion that we're unable to solve man's problems in our own strengths.
I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the LORD Most High.
