Menstruation Changes Could Be Symptom of Thyroid Disease
(http://ow.ly/5Pbl30lRlh3)

Your thyroid controls your metabolism and sends hormones throughout your body. If it isn't functioning properly, the metabolic changes can cause your body to go into an anemic state, throwing off your menstruation cycle. Because a menstruation cycle that isn't consistent can cause fertility issues, it's a symptom that shouldn't be ignored. If you notice any changes in your menstrual cycle, be sure to tell your doctor right away so that he can check your thyroid to see if that is what's causing the problem.

Minimally invasive procedures like body contouring and dermal fillers have jumped almost 200 percent since 2000. Patients are taking advantage of the increasing range of safe, non-invasive laser treatment options that reduce fat, erase unsightly veins and smooth the appearance of wrinkles because they give more lasting benefits with less risk than traditional plastic surgery.

A New Tool for Fighting Fat As You Age
(http://ow.ly/46hu30lRlgQ)

Your metabolism slows down about 5% every decade after you turn 40, which can be the biggest reason why you are gaining weight even if you're still following a healthy diet and exercise regimen. This fat tends to store in areas of the body like the abdomen, flanks, and hips and be particularly stubborn to lose. Body sculpting treatments can help by permanently destroying fat cells in those areas, causing you to look slimmer. What's more--you can achieve these results with no incisions, no anesthesia, and virtually no time away from work!

Dr. Anderson has training and experience in the administration of TruSculpt 3D and can walk you through what to expect during your no-obligation free consultation. To get started, book an appointment online by clicking the link above or call the office.

What To Do When You Have First Trimester Abnormal Pregnancy Symptoms
(http://ow.ly/o32J30lRlh8)

Pregnancy can be a time where you experience changes in your body, as well as aches and pains as your body grows to adapt to the baby growing inside you. While most of these changes are normal, if you suspect that your symptoms are out of the ordinary, don't take any chances. You should either contact your obstetrician or urgent care if you begin experiencing pregnancy issues such as pain when urinating, more frequent urination or urinary tract infection, a yeast infection, itching, burning, morning sickness, bleeding (including persistent spotting), abdominal cramps, dizziness, or fainting.

Vaginal Atrophy May Worsen Over Time
(http://ow.ly/MsdP30lRlh7)

When you first begin perimenopause or menopause, you may have no symptoms of vaginal atrophy or only mild ones, such as a little more dryness than normal during sexual intercourse. But as you go through menopause and your estrogen decreases further, it can turn into chronic dryness and irritation so severe that sexual intercourse is too painful to bear. Hormone replacement therapy can restore lubrication and make sex enjoyable again.

Ways to Make Talking About Menopausal Vaginal Atrophy Easier
(http://ow.ly/bQ8W30lRlh5)

While most women aren't shy about inquiring with their doctors about how to combat wrinkles, sagging skin, and slow metabolisms as they age, it's appalling that 70 percent of post-menopausal women won't open up to their doctors about life in the bedroom, and why it may not be the same as it once was. This is why one OB/GYN started organizing a get-together to talk about women's health issues like sex, menopause and vaginal atrophy. "It makes it fun," she explains. "When you have a wine and cheese, you're inviting people to the office, and they come with their friends. We say we're going to talk about vaginas. It relaxes the whole issue."

Diagnosing Endometriosis Can Be Frustrating Uphill Battle For Many Women
(http://ow.ly/VGpi30lRlh4)

It's estimated that endometriosis affects one in 10 women and that about 175 million women worldwide have the disease, but for all those who have it, it's poorly understood or appreciated. Endometriosis is described as a ghost disease--while the pain is very real to the woman who's experiencing it, it’s not visible on the outside, which makes it frustrating she doesn't get the support she needs and deserves. The average length of time between the onset of symptoms and actual diagnosis via laparoscopy is twelve years, see finding an OB/GYN who does comprehensive endometriosis testing and works with you to find options to alleviate your pain and manage abnormal periods is the best way to successfully diagnose and treat it.

Talking to Your Doctor About Menopause
(http://ow.ly/REUX30lRlh2)

Some women are shy about speaking with their doctors when it comes to vaginal atrophy, vaginal dryness, vaginal laxity, vaginal burning, and pain during sexual intercourse that accompanies menopause. They believe their symptoms are a natural part of aging and something they have to live with and/or have been led to believe that replacing their estrogen is dangerous and can cause cancer. But initiating a dialogue on the topic of menopause when a patient comes in for her annual exam is very beneficial. Your doctor can prescribe medications and make lifestyle suggestions that can help you manage your symptoms.

Laser Hair Removal Does Not Cause Cancer
(http://ow.ly/q6Hv30lRlh0)

A Fox News viewer recently asked if there was any link between laser hair removal and cancer. Fox reports that according to various sources, there is no evidence that the lasers used in hair removal procedures could cause cancer, DNA damage or DNA mutations. The light that is used in the procedure does not penetrate beyond the depths of the hair follicle, and internal organs are in no way affected, nor is fertility. While there are some temporary risks involved like redness, scarring and discoloration in the treated area, icing the area, applying cold milk, and taking an anti-inflammatory such as Aleve can help relieve the discomfort until the skin heals on its own in a few days.
