We were a party of 6 from out of town on a Friday night and had a fantastic time at One North. The menu was eclectic and interesting and had something that worked for everyone. Things we had at the table we really enjoyed: Sauteed calamari appetizer, the bacon/smoked Gouda risotto (excellent), vegetarian tacos, and sea scallops. The desserts were good as well--mango sorbet and bread pudding stood out. Best of all was the service, led by Alana. She knew the menu inside and out and was super at describing the items and portion sizes to help folks make their decisions. She paced things perfectly and was attentive without being overbearing. She coordinated the arrival of drinks and courses with help from other servers so that everything arrived simultaneously for our party. Superb job!

Comments : Great Food, Awesome Service - When I made my reservation w/open table I indicated a gluten intolerance plus unable to have cheese or mushrooms. The waitress had a list written from the chef of items on the menu fitting that description (or easily modified), that was so awesome! I was already looking at everything and it make it so much easier to decide what to get. There was one really loud (I indicated a moderate noise level because this was unusual) group of drunk people (it was the day of the Chicago Blackhawks victory parade/rally) which was slightly annoying, but to be expected on such a day. When we were finishing up the waitress came to our table and apologized for the loud table, offering us free desert or a free round of drinks (or if we didn't want any more, to comp a round we already ordered). Keep in mind, we never even complained about the table. That was incredibly nice, especially considering I was drinking an $18 Blantons! She got a very nice tip and we will certainly be back. It was a chilly night so we ate inside, but it'd be fun to sit out front and people watch. The waitress said they tend to close early, they are more of a business crowd and it's always hopping at lunch. But most commuters leave by 7 and we got there at 7:30 - there were only 4 tables filled, including the loud bunch. Great food! Definitely get the sauteed calamari. Delicious!

Chef Piper’s Blackened-Blue Burgers taste even better (if that’s possible) when devoured while seated at the patio. How about a beer with your burger?

I'd like to first of all start by saying that this comment is almost 5 months overdue as I had the absolute pleasure of having my wedding reception here in October. As a self-proclaimed "laid back perfectionist" (what?), I can say with absolute certainty that having our wedding reception at One North was one of the best choices we made during our wedding planning process. We were taken care of from the minute our initial inquiry was emailed to Jude Abella, the Director of Events/Event Coordinator, to the final touches that we didn't even notice until weeks after the wedding with her saving the corks used for the champagne toast in a box we later opened. Jude made sure every detail - big or small - was successfully executed to a T. Her attention to detail completely exceeded my expectations including, but not limited to, making herself available to us when needed, offering helpful checklists each and every step of the way, staying on top of our vendors and even getting to know us on a personal level to make sure the night was a sincere reflection of us. In an initial discovery period she even found out that my guilty pleasure is... (wait for it) cheese fries. Her and her staff figured out which ones were my favorite in this great city of ours, and One North's phenomenal chef/magician, Laura Piper, recreated them to an even better version of my favorite (sorry 'boutcha DMK) which were then served towards the end of the evening when everyone could use a little fries+cheese+bacon+sour-cream+green-onion action. While I'm on the topic of food, we all know wedding food is historically...not great. So, shame on me for expecting ours to follow suit in the mediocre wedding food category. Chef Piper and Jude worked within our expectations and budget to deliver a few different meal options that were OUTSTANDING (Yes, the caps were necessary.) I can't tell you how many different people stopped me during the reception to sing praises about the food. To quote one of my dad's friends, "I felt like I was at a 5 star restaurant for dinner and a night out in the city". My husband and I are definitely foodies and the meals Chef Piper created and prepared were flavorful, fresh, unique, gorgeous and delicious. The rest of the management staff and waitstaff were professional and ‘on it’. The cocktails were not that of what you'd expect at a wedding; from perfectly executed old fashions to ice cold martinis and our favorite craft beers. The management team made it known that they were available to us should we need anything at all during the evening and we felt extremely well taken care of. I really and truly could go on and on, but I'm sure at this point the only people still reading this post are that of Jude, Chef Piper and the other wonderful One North staff. Thank you Thank you Thank you for making the most important day of our lives memorable, beautiful and perfect. - Taylor and Brendan

One North is one of my favorite places to eat when I am stuck in the loop after a long day. The menu is good, the service is great, and you are bound to find a bunch of people having a laugh for happy hour. Bring your friends. One north is very warm and inviting.

Power-Lunch only for the thick-skinned ... Came for lunch at 11:40 am, nobody around. Were shown the worst seating, told that the restaurant was booked (it wasn't); took some arguing to get better seating in empty place. Clearly, front-of-house managers don't empower their staff to be friendly and welcoming. It's not the staff's fault - it's clearly management. Then, for being seated first, it took nearly 1 hour for food to arrive. That did not make any sense. Some of the food was ok; tacos were completely impractical and not a good combination of tastes. I can not recommend this place.

There is nothing extremely special about this place, but I have always enjoyed the food. The salad and fish tacos are pretty good. It's conveniently close to offices in the loop.

It was one of the last warm days of October so we sat outside and it was simply perfect. You get a great view of the Lyric Opera theater and this is a great place for dinner before the shows. They even offer bar specials for theater patrons. Both dishes we ordered were phenomenal - the sauteed calamari was full of flavor and meat and the risotto, mmm it was melt in your mouth kind of heaven. Plus, you can't go wrong with bacon in risotto.

I was recently at One North Kitchen & Bar to send a co-worker off into Stay-at-Home-Mom Land. I was the one to make the reservation and the confirm the final number. Everyone I spoke to was very helpful and courteous. They have a nice selection of liquor, beers and special drinks. As far as food, the crispy tater tots were a big hit with our crowd. The buffalo chicken sliders, not so much. The service was great, our waiter was constantly checking on us, but not to the point of it being too much. It would be a great place to grab a meal or drink before the Opera which is conveniently right across the street.

This spot is great! A bit expensive but the food and drinks are great. For a spot of town which is only filled with tons of lunch eateries, One North is a cool get away! Flatbread, red wines, and brussel sprouts are delicious!

Great atmosphere, incredible cuisine and outstanding beer on tap selection! I'd highly recommend it for a nice treat yourself meal, casual cocktail on the patio or especially a visit before the Opera.
