You get treated in a rational about of time before your condition gets worse, unlike some cases in the NHS system. Many Canadians who have a system similar to NHS come to the US to be treated as the waiting lines are too long.
Yes there are many choices. Plans, doctors, services, costs. But that is the difference between being treated as a slab of beef vs having the chance to tailor your health care options to benefit you. The author complains about this bevy of choices. But I would bet he would complain even more if he was allowed only one brand of stout.
