We believe there is at least one planet for every star in our galaxy. This could mean as many as 100 to 400 billion planets in our galaxy alone. It’s been 20 years since we found the first exoplanet around a Sun-like star. Today we’ll be sharing some more exciting news about recent exoplanet discoveries. Stay tuned today & learn more at http://go.nasa.gov/1MvF0Ku and http://go.nasa.gov/1MvF10I

These pants may not be the most stylish, but they’re helping us prepare for a human #JourneyToMars. We’re studying how fluids shift to the upper body in space, and how this adaptation to space flight changes the human body. These pants counteract that shift by returning the fluids to the lower body. Learn more: http://go.nasa.gov/1OvTIQB

Loops in Profile

A whole series of loops towered above a group of active regions over a five-days period (July 9-13, 2015). When viewed in extreme ultraviolet light, magnetic field lines above the Sun's surface are revealed by charged particles that spin along the lines and create these loops. They are best observed along the edge of the Sun as they are here. The tallest of the loops reach up about 15 times the diameter of Earth.

Tomorrow, our Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter will make its biggest orbit maneuver since 2006 in preparation for the next Mars lander, InSight. This new lander is scheduled to arrive on the red planet in September 2016, and we need the orbiter in a position to receive radio transmissions as the lander touches down. Yesterday, America's space program took another historic leap for humankind. Today, the New Horizons team is bringing what was previously a blurred point of light into focus. We’ve got even more data from the #Plutoflyby coming over the next 16 months. Keep following along…
