This job hunt is dragging ON- please take and share this quiz about how long a post-PhD job hunt takes. Thanks! http://bit.ly/KM1WBV
I had dinner with the person who got me my internship, and she told me that spending "only a year" job hunting after earning my PhD isn't something to be frustrated about. She said she s...

This is all over twitter, but I am sharing it because I think I wanna be a Neil deGrasse Tyson when I get my career in order. Is that a fair career path? And Carl Zimmer is just cool. You should consider following them both on twitter.
2012. King of the Cosmos (A Profile of Neil deGrasse Tyson). Playboy, January 2012 On a hay-mown crest, dozens of people are crouching in the dark. The Earth has turned away from the sun, and the sky ...

Tyson is one of my heroes. He's like Kaku and Sagan, but smoother.

My response to my nomination for the icebucket challenge. A little learning about ALS, a big ask at the end.
If we want cures for diseases like ALS, go after the big money: Fund the NIH.

My little sister and her boyfriend challenged Matt and I to the ice bucket challenge on Sunday night. Their ice bucket challenge occurred on top of a mountain, in an Alaskan costume that included wearing antlers and ski goggl...

Tomorrow I am headed to the New York Hall of Science to indulge in one of my new science hobbies, outreach. I'll be helping the Carnegie Science Center of Pittsburgh to do a workshop on the Click! Spy School for girls. Let's hope I can channel an international agent of mystery in front of the coolest of the cool science museum folk and non-traditional educators. Wish me luck!

I'm looking for more science or education editing work in the new year. Here is some info about what I am doing if you also want to try freelance editing.
A bit more contract editing. One of the things that haunted me as I was finishing up in my grad school lab was that not having somewhere to go would mean I am unemployed, and it seems like a slippery ...

From the brilliant +Rajini Rao Neutrinos are the vampires of physics? Watch the 1:25 minute video to find out why.
If the facts go right through your head, you can still groan at these neutrino jokes :)

* We don’t allow faster than light neutrinos in here, said the bartender. A neutrino walks into a bar.

* Hipsters liked neutrinos before they arrived.

* After the neutrino incident at CERN, Moody’s downgrades Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity from AAA to AA+.

* "…so you see, Virginia, it’s just that Santa Claus is made of neutrinos."

* Do neutrinos go faster than light?
Some physicists think that they might.
In the cold light of day,
I am sorry to say,
The story is probably shite.
