At the equinox, the beginning of Aries, light and dark are perfectly balanced, day and night are equal length poised, on the brink of a new cycle, a new impulse.

So it is that Aries embodies the energy for the new quickening birthed during the equinox. For Aries as the very first sign of the zodiac seeks to express a sense of personal potency, power and individuality in all its endeavours. It is the sign of fresh starts, new beginnings of enterprise, energy and original ideas that embody an unending enthusiasm, vision, love of challenge and an insatiable, competitively crusading spirit.

Aries quest is to discover and glorify the vitality of life, by winning, by being first, by cultivating their sense of the exuberance through the single pointed focus of energy towards ever new experience and achievement. Head strong and impulsive they will lock horns' with whatever stands in the way. For Aires it is starting that is the adventure, be it physical, spiritual or intellectual, even if finishing is not always a strength.

A time of poise and balance

The March equinox occurs the moment the sun crosses the celestial equator – the imaginary line in the sky above the Earth’s equator – from south to north. It is a time of light, life and rebirth, is a time of balance between day and night. This duality between light and dark exists within us all, and marks out essential stages in our life cycle, as all things die and are reborn, each in turn as we rejoice at the coming of the new season.

Each equinox is a mysterious time. They mark an essential passage in the earth / life cycle that is often overlooked or misunderstood. It is also a powerful seasonal signpost, a marker that invites pause, of reflection where you can once more take time to enter the sanctuary of the soul and within those silent spaces dialogue again once with your dreams.

At 0 degrees Aries, this equinox also marks the beginning of a new astrological year, it is an opportunity to re affrim new year resolutions made way back in January.

Welcome to Virgo

The essence of Virgo is linked to the sacred integrity of the earth itself for in Virgo the earth starts to bear fruit. This fertility links historically to the temple goddesses down the ages after whom they are 'sufficient unto themselves,' beholden to none.

Virgo is a sign of discrimination, dedication and hard work, prepared to put in whatever effort is required its to achieve its aims. Virgo also personifies the ability to make choices and to distinguish between right and wrong.  Its virtue is its selflessness and while some signs help themselves Virgo serves others. Feeling useful then is highly important to Virgoans, whose intense curiosity about a great variety of things is often combined with a desire to impart knowledge and serve others.

For above all a person born with the Sun in Virgo needs to create a sense of order and harmony through the acquisition of knowledge,  skills, analysis and application which make a practical contribution to the environment.  If Virgo has a fault it is its tendency to judge both itself and others too harshly this can also contribute to them being highly-strung and wary of  unpredictable change.

In celebration of Leo as the sun prepare to exit the sign.

The mainspring of Leo's great energy, vitality and charm is his instinctive desire for both public acclaim and self-approval. Of all the signs, Leo is perhaps the most aware of himself; in a sense, he is always before the looking-glass, seeing what effect he is making.

Your best Leo type is earnest, sincere, eager to please himself and the world around him, and willing, in order to do so, to take on infinite work and go to infinite trouble. He is not genuinely introspective; he has little capacity to discover his inner faults; but he is very sensitive to the effect he makes on others, and studies therefore what to do to make a better effect.

Leos choose for themselves a high role in which to merit the world's approval, lived up to the role, and actually became what they wanted to be admired for. 'Such a price do the gods exact for a song, to become what we sing.' Whether he is found in business, on the stage π(and he often is)Ω, or in a love affair π(where also he often is)Ω, Leo is acutely aware of himself, always standing off and appraising the effect he is making. He will usually be found, if not conventional, at least discreet. Self-approval replaces conscience; he'll do anything if he thinks it is right, and will brave public opinion if his self-approval is sufficiently important to outweigh the loss of public approval. However he behaves, you can rest assured that he is always acutely aware of what people are thinking of him and that he is striving to make them think as well as possible.

"Midway through life's journey, I found myself in dark woods, the right road lost."
From Dante's "Inferno,"

How many of us was Dante speaking for when he penned these words? How many of us have found ourselves at such a place. Lost for a while in the bewildering landscape of our lives ~ wondering which way to go, what to do?

The Astroquest Forecaster, available from www.YourAstrologyForecaster.com was written for just such times. Its reassuring text identifies the landmarks, surveys the road ahead, outlines choices, potentials and opportunities.

Essentially the forest corresponds to ones inner psychological terrain in times of major transition, it is where we find ourselves after ending some phase of our life.

As scary as it can be in the midst this forest, as long and as alone as we may be there, it is above all full of potential. It is far better place for the soul to be in than the wasteland.
