Fedorians! I had a passion for my old wish today. Namely, I can run 64-bit Windows programs and games from Steam on a Fedora x64, Wine. I got this today. The solution was actually simple. Wine had to be rewritten with the '-enable-win64' option, followed by 'winetricks' to put the necessary dlls in their place, followed by a small regedit, winecfg after the test. Unfortunately I did not succeed. After that, I quickly made a backup of the .wine under the $ HOME folder and then tried it again. Obviously, google is a good friend and I found the following command:
WINEARCH = win64 WINEPREFIX = / home / rakosi.gergely / .wine64 wine "64bit program.exe"
and voila, the programs started. But there was a problem ... there was no sound. Since I've been practicing in such a field, I've only thought of a quick error check and realized that there were no devel rpms for the 'sound' packages installed. I quickly replaced these with dnf, then again Wine translation and installation. Hurray, the sound came. So you've got the full success, and I've tried the following Steam games (and scenes demos):
Wolfeinstein: The New Order
- Mortal Kombat XL
- Batman: Arkham Knight
and some scene demo ...
Players, come on.
If you have questions, write here or email.
Again, and again...Fedora is a strong, and working operating system for desktop games. Lets continue, and rise that numbers to the clouds :-)
