In case you see me being a bit cautious about throwing my opinion fully behind "network neutrality", this is part of the reason. A simplified introduction to Internet peering.
Netflix has a problem: So many people want to watch the series, there isn't enough capacity to let everyone watch at once, uninterrupted. And someone has to pay to keep the content running smoothly.

This weekend, I did absolutely nothing. Apparently, I needed that.

Sad thing was, I needed that.

Good stuff: How the Internet let parents connect (yay for yahoogroups) to solve a problem better.
Bad stuff: The implication of how compensation potentially drives excessive medical decisions.

Sounds like the technique being done in the developing world that I get "begs" for money for just about every other week.

I'll go for the "good stuff" interpretation.

This was fun - life through a microscope's view.
Being someone who suffers from tufted hair folliculitis on occasion, the view of a hair through the microscope was no surprise.

I love that.  Especially the blood clot.  I've donated platelets often enough without actually seeing a picture of it.

I am just old enough to remember how the movie Mazes and Monsters was the tipping point in our town.
Thirty years ago, a war raged between the dorks who played Dungeons & Dragons, and the conservative parent groups who believed that gaming was debauched at best and Satanic at worst. Lives were ruined. People died. And now that war is over. I still can't believe we won.

It's the probing I object to mostly.  They don't warm those things up first.

This will never be allowed to continue, of course. It makes entirely too much sense.

Life is too short to listen to big-L libertarian craziness. I'd rather spend my time more productively, like reading more Church of the Subgenius or studying the Principia Discordia.

If I ever become convinced that the government is out to get me, take my guns and floridate my water, I won't be accessing a computer.  I'll be hiding out in the woods under a tarp, clutching my guns and probably dying from an abscessed tooth.  I already know they can control my brain with these computer things.

Story
Introduction
A guy, a husband (Chris Drummonds), two huskies (Noodle and Freya), too much work and lots of books.

Note that I never expect you to add me to a circle reciprocally.  I'm obviously following you because you have good content posted publicly.

In spite of Google being better about privacy, I still maintain two accounts for social networking.  If you know what a bear is, you're probably looking at the wrong account.

In a no-notice drop-in, Ernie sent me on my way in very short order with a nice birthday arrangement. He also helpfully suggested next time to bring my own vase so they don't continue to multiply. :-)
