I broke my don't go shopping when I am hungry rule. Not only did I not have breakfast beforehand I haven't eaten real food all week. Self serve by the pound hot breakfast bar ( yes I will take curried tofu scramble And turkey sausage gravy) and a cold salad bar ( put peas, pico de gallo, sprouts and fresh veggies on top of my fritatta eggs And a small sample all the different kinds of rice dishes). Yes this cost me 22$ but every bite was a different taste And I had enough left for lunch which I promotely ate 30 minutes later (well still nibbling) With a container of sweet blueberries and locally craft brewed kombucha it is a "breakfast" better than I could make. It amazes me how much goodness they pack into what would be considered a small place. I never saw anyone throw anything into the trash can only into the recycling can

Loved shopping here. The staff were very helpful and went above to help. The cheese selection is unique and vast. I spent a great deal of time smelling the prepared meals. It is a co-op so prices are for mostly organic food with ingediants that can be pronounced.

Love this place! A must stop for traveling musicians passing through. Good food, hot coffee, wonderful staff, great selection, and fair prices. Worth becoming an owner!

The bakery has great options and the hot bar has rotating dishes that are really good. This is a co-op so you get cheaper prices if you join, but the prices are pretty reasonable given the quality of items.

Wow, thanks so much for the review, Jeremiah! I'll pass this along to the Deli (and they'll be thrilled to hear it). Have a nice week! --Brendon Smith, Director of Communications

Best grocery store in Madison by far! They have the best and freshest produce selection in town. If you are looking for a quick healthy lunch or one of the best pizza's, fresh and cooked to order, this is your spot! And they have an awesome juice bar! Keep up the great work Willy St Co-op East!

Great selection in a small space. Responsive and friendly staff. Lots of good deals each week. Fun classes for kids and adults. Small but delicious hot bar and salad bar, including a cozy dining area with a kids play area. Large outdoor seating areas.

Excellent cooperative grocery store. Exceptionally fresh produce. However, if you prefer having all name brands available to you, or you want an enormous selection of each type of product, this is not the place you're looking for. Try soon-to-be-open Festival Foods on East Washington, or Woodman's on Milwaukee Street.

I've been going to the co-op since 2010 and I like the overall experience a lot. It isn't always the cheapest place to get groceries, though it really depends on what you get. It is a great place to find a large selection of groceries that lean a bit more toward the socially/environmentally conscious direction. I don't get 100% of my groceries there, but I love having it as an option.
