Does anyone else imagine whole conversations between important characters and then suddenly think, "Why am I not writing this down?"

Seriously. Imagine if you will ...

Two telepathic aliens, having shed their human masks, size each other up like the relentlessly logical monsters that they truly are. One's a rebel against "her" own people, the other either a prisoner of war or a defector; "he" hasn't decided yet. (They're asexual in their mature form; genders are just a convention, and the prisoner/defector hasn't adopted masculine yet, but ignore that for now.) They're comparing life experiences, commenting on humanity (generally in favor, but sometimes only just), and playfully(?) discussing which of them would eat whom.

Two humanoids knock, and the rebel says, "Come in". They see the two aliens with masks and gloves off. The one with less knowledge of the species makes a comment about leaving them to "tangle tentacles or whatever you two do," and exeunt humanoids. The aliens, telepathically again, marvel that human(oid)s assume everything's about sex.

I could probably reconstruct something like it, but I'm sure there's a clever bit I'll forget.

This year I swore off Kickstarters, at least until some of those I've already funded finally delivered. But I'll have to fund this one, won't I? sigh Just when I think I'm out, they pull me back in.

SCREENARCHIVES.COM had all twelve disks of the Batman: the Animated Series soundtrack, and after much soul wallet searching, I bought them all. They're supposedly in the mail. One of the tracks for "The Man Who Killed Batman" lists "Amazing Grace (Traditional), so let's hope it has that magnificent solo from the following scene.

Just discovered this episode of Have I Got News For You with BRIAN BLESSED. Some of you may remember BRIAN BLESSED as Prince Vultan from Flash Gordon (1980) or from the first Blackadder series.

Anyway, here's BRIAN BLESSED uncensored. Brace for impact.

“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged.  One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world.  The other, of course, involves orcs.”

"The reason why White nationalists like 45 always name Haiti is that the Haitian nation and people are unique. Haiti defeated Napoleon, threw off the chains of slavery, and exposed the lie of White supremacy and European imperialism. So there's no end to their hatred for Haiti. [...] In order to do a victory lap around the GDP difference between, say, Norway and Haiti, you have to know nothing about the history of the world. That includes, especially, knowing nothing real about the history of the United States.

"While Haiti's revolution was an early, signature event in world history -- the first time a European power would be overthrown by an indigenous army (but not the last) -- the causes of Haiti's poverty are basically identical to those of almost every poor nation around the world: a history of exploitation, bad debt, bad geopolitics, and bad people profiting off that poverty (almost all of them living elsewhere). And this is basically true about poverty in American cities as well (with all the same attendant racist myths)." (Kottke.org):
