simply amazing! the 5-, 7- or 12-course meals are more like art than just food. reserve well in advance and to cap it all off, it's byob.

We went on a chef's choice Sunday. Four courses of excellent food and a surprise at every dish. Wonderful.

Bonsoiree is one of the better restaurants in Chicago. Ambiance is very good, execution is excellent, and flavors are excellent. I'd like to see a few more riskier and challenging items, but I understand that I'm a bit out of the mainstream. After you consider the BYOB aspect, it really turns out to be a great value for a top-notch restaurant experience.

We had an absolutely amazing experience here this evening. They were doing an 8 course, pre-winter, experimental menu. They were trying out new dishes before making a set winter menu. The atmosphere was amazing, the service was perfect (knowledgable, friendly, not pretentious in the least), and the food was incredible. My favorite course was the "seafood platter" (mussells, motoyaki scallop, lobster, prawn, wakame, oyster). BYOB to boot! 2 1/2 hours, plenty of food, quite affordable with the BYOB, friendly atmosphere (laid back, but still very professional). I can't say enough good things about Bonsoiree. I highly recommend it!

i may have the (dubious?) distinction to be the only patron who has eaten at bonsoiree twice in one week. it's quite the opposite of pretentious, where else can you comfortably wear jeans and have truffles shaved over your plate? this is a foodie destination. if you sneer at 8 ingredients on the plate, your perfect fine dining experience may be elsewhere. if you have an open mind, this might be one of the best meals in the us under $100.

This is my favorite restaurant in the city. BYOB and small restaurant. I always went to his Sunday dinners where he made up on the menu based on what he got in the market that day. Saturday underground dinners are awesome too. I really shouldn't write this review because now everyone will go.

I really had hoped for better with Bonsoirée. Going in to our meal, I had received rave recommendations from a friend and, given the Michelin rating, I had relatively high expectations. But I left disappointed. The service was the worst part of the experience and it was probably the worst service I have received in a Chicago restaurant. To be clear, no waiters were rude or condescending (although some seemed to have trouble remembering the ingredients when presenting the dishes). But the wait time between courses was too much. We did the nine-course menu and waited a great deal of time between dishes, sometimes 30-40 minutes between each. In the end, the poor service was a huge detractor from some of the tasty food (notably, the scallop and lamb dishes). I didn't find this experience to be worth the price tag.
