I recently was asked who my favorite superhero is... at my age. If I must have a superhero, then mine are my fellow journalists -- especially those who are doing investigative journalism and covering national, state, and local politics -- and they are #NotTheEnemy.

"Data journalism is social science done on deadline."

More than one quip from ASU's Stephen Doig & Reveal's Jennifer LaFleur at last week's #KS4Austin symposium on science journalism made it into my sketchnote about the data journalism session.

Having "a life in science" means sometimes discovering live animals of unknown type/quantity sitting in a box on the loading dock... or maybe just the leftover box. But this is not a question for Schrödinger: One does not open such boxes to see.

I discovered my tablet has been keeping time-lapse videos of the drawings as I've made them -- no wonder the files are so big!
