Cheater's Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya
I may have mentioned before, but I love cooking traditional foods from many cultures. And the reason why I like cooking these foods is because I know that every village, every family, every region had their own variations. Despite what we may think today wh...

Solicited review of PG Tips Premium Gold Blend Tea
I'll admit it, I do like my tea. Most days at home I do things quick and easy, pulling a tea bag out of a box and brewing up a cup of "builder's tea" sweetened with a bit of Stevia and a good splash of skimmed milk. So, I was very happy to sign up when BzzA...

Well, Nan, at least we agree on one thing - it is truly an excellent cuppa from those master blenders at PG Tips! At only less than a penny per bag more than the PG ordinaire, it is hardly a big stretch, even for an impoverished pensioner like myself. I'm pushing 80 and had no trouble ripping the sellophane off with my new teeth. Do I care about Rainforest Alliance, not really. it's a lot of 'feel good' hokum that hardly translates into meaningful hard cash for the pickers who are historically an underclass, usually illiterate who live in hovels provided by the tea estate owners.
I was in Kenya last year and nothing has changed from 40 years ago when I was teaching there. I put my tea bags straight into my "gobbler" in the kitchen sink which always leaves a pleasant aroma. I don't do worm farms or composting. At 99p a bag in B&Q the ready made is an easier option. Your comment on animal testing probably has the chaps at Unilever quaking in their boots. Frankly I'd rather they tested new product on animals rather than me. Do I care about mice and rats - no, not at all. which reminds me, and to end on a funny note..
Little girl goes into Pet Shop and asks," do you have any wats for sale?"
Pet Store guy says, "Yes we do. Now would you like that fwuffy little black fellow over there, or this even more fwuffy little white one over here?"
Little girl:  "You know Mister, I don't think my python gives a hoot what colour his rats are. But I'll take both."

Grilled Bacon Chops and Chips
Some evenings, I don't want to spend an hour in the kitchen. I may have had a busy day, or we may have gotten home later. On those days, I like to plan for a quick and simple meal I can pull together in under an hour, and ideally in less than 30 minutes. Ba...
