Hello, Toshiba Chromebook 2

1080p IPS display? 13-in. screen? Front-facing stereo speakers?

Yeah -- this one looks promising, all right. Some initial impressions:

Great piece by +Mike Elgan on a.) why anyone who's concerned about trolls on social media should switch to Google+ and b.) how to keep trolls in check once you get here. Given the extreme intimidation tactics (death threats, rape threats, doxxing and more) trolls have been using against women, racial minorities, LGBT people, or really anyone they disagree with, it's well worth reading.

As +Barbara Krasnoff  says, I love the specificity of the reasons Matt Lake gives for finding Google Glass unsatisfactory. That and lines like "Glass's voice recognition can be about as responsive as your average 6-year-old after soda and cupcakes."
A fun (and actually very informative) article from Matt Lake on his experiences trying out Google Glass. Some of these (such as the reaction of folks you're talking to) I had sort of surmised, but it's good to have some direct (very direct) feedback from somebody who actually tried a pair out.

Last year, +Rebecca Linke rounded up a bunch of portable battery chargers that give your smartphone or tablet juice when you're far from an outlet. It was wildly popular with readers -- clearly these are gadgets people need.

Well, Rebecca has just rounded up an all-new batch of portable chargers that are lighter and more powerful than last year's group. Which one will you pick?
The latest chargers for smartphones and tablets offer more power but less weight than last year's. Here are 12 that will help keep you powered throughout the day.

Delightful takedown of marketers' "sexy phone" hyperbole by +Barbara Krasnoff:
I attended the introduction of the new HTC One M8 today, and besides the specs and appearance of what HTC is obviously hoping will be a new standout phone, I couldn't help noticing the obvious affection with which the device was described -- to the point where I started wondering if I had stepped into a romantic novel.

When will we start taking security seriously?
It seems like every week we hear of a new breach and another cache of credit card data stolen. Isn't it time to finally admit that we need some new security methods and leave the password behind once and for all because it clearly doesn't work.  http://bit.ly/1rnEym4
