This bus company is very disorganized and poorly run. I'm sure CPS is using them because they were the lowest bidder, but you get what you pay for. In my book, Illinois Central School Bus is a huge FAIL. Last week, prior to the start of school, we contacted Illinois Central Bus Company, and were told that our son's pick-up time would be 7:30 AM. However, his class doesn't start until 8:45 and we were concerned about him being put on the bus so early, as we are about 5 minutes from the school. The bus company refused to change the pick-up time. On Monday, Aug 26 (first day of school) no bus arrived, and we were unable to reach anyone at the bus company. We took our son to school ourselves. That afternoon, I finally reached the bus company. They told me they had several buses vandalized, and were unable to pick-up all the kids. At this time, they agreed to change the pick-up time to 8:30 AM. On Tuesday, Aug 27, the bus arrived at 8:30 AM and there were no issues. On Wednesday, Aug 28, the bus arrived at 8:15 AM. We rushed our son to the bus. Later that day, we were told by his teacher that the bus arrived so early, there nearly wasn't anyone at school to meet him. Today, Thursday, Aug 29 the bus again arrived at 8:15. I spoke with the bus driver, and was told that the bus schedule had changed to an 8:20 AM pick-up. There was no communication on any schedule change from the bus company or the school. Additionally, a CPS employee named Andrew Cantor was on the bus. When I complained that I had not had any communication about a schedule change, this man raised his voice to me in a confrontational, unprofessional manner. He literally yelled at me that the bus driver had no control over the schedule. We took our son to school again, as I did not want to trust him to Mr. Cantor. I called Illinois Central and spoke with Sanobya Herrion. She told me that the school had changed the bus schedule, not the bus company. If this is the case, there was no communication to me from the school. Our son's teacher did not know about this schedule change either. I contacted the Assistant Principal at the school. According to her, the school did not request a schedule change from the bus company. Obviously, Illinois Central lied to me.

Gilchrist-Marchman preschool was recommended by a CPS counselor for our four year old son, who was diagnosed with Autism. They accept children with special needs, so we thought they may be a good option. I attempted to contact Morayma Cancel, the interim director, and received no response to emails or phone calls. I then attempted to contact Greg O'Brien, who is in charge of admissions, and again got no response. After continued attempts to contact them, I was finally able to schedule a tour with Mr. O'Brien. I took the tour and placed my son's name on the waiting list in May 2013. At that time, Mr. O'Brien told me they would likely have openings in August. He also asked me to contact him in July for an update. In early July, I sent him an email asking if we were still on-track for August admission. I got no response. After follow-up emails and phone calls, I was finally able to reach Morayma Cancel in early August. She told me she would look into whether our son would be admitted and call me back that same day. She didn't call back that day or the next. She didn't respond to my emails, so I started trying to get through to anybody there. I found out Ms. Cancel had gone on vacation. I tried contacting others at the center, but didn't have any luck. Finally, Ms. Cancel did email me to tell me that they would *not* have room for our son. In total, I tried to contact the following people: Morayma Cancel, Gregory O'Brien, Jayashree Rao, and Delores Nickel. Most of my emails and phone messages went completely unanswered. It was only after significant effort that I was able to get any response from anybody at Gilchrist Marchman. Given the unresponsiveness of the staff and poor communication, I can't recommend Gilchrist Marchman. If you have any choice, don't even bother with them.

Don't listen to the good reviews!!! Those people must like being treated poorly and getting over-charged. The food at Meli is VERY over-priced. The management and staff are worse than rude, the place is uncomfortably cramped, and they are definitely NOT kid friendly. We arrived with a group of eight (four adults, four kids) for breakfast, and were immediately treated to a very bad attitude from one of the young women working the front desk. She had an angry look on her face and spoke to us as though she would rather we leave. I joked with her a bit to lighten the mood, but she only became more agitated. She appeared to be compensating for some inadequacy by trying treating us to an unhealthy dose of nasty attitude. We were told it would be a half-hour wait, and we were given a big square pager. After over an hour, the pager went off and we returned to the desk. The angry young woman asked if our whole party was there, and we told her they were. A few minutes later, she asked again. Then again. Finally, we told her we would like to sit down, since the kids were hungry and getting antsy, and she flew into a rage. She yelled at us, red faced, and insisted we would have to wait because she was busy. I asked to see the manager, and she said she was the manager. We asked to see the owner, and she said she was the owner. I asked her for her card, and she gave us a card for Nick Karabelas and Yiannis Theoharis. Apparently these two men are the managers or owners, and not the hostess at the front desk. Finally, the angry hostess took us to a table. Several minutes later, an obese, sweaty, older man in an ill-fitting suit comes to our table and yells at our party for upsetting his hostess. SERIOUSLY! He said his name was Nick (presumably Mr. Karabelas from the business card). After reading some other reviews, apparently Nick has a bad habit of yelling at his customers. If he wasn't so ridiculously comical, we would have been more upset. He didn't ask us for our side of the story, didn't care what we had to say, and was just as nasty as the hostess. If we didn't have four starving kids, having already waited over an hour, we would have left. Instead, we toughed it out and stayed to eat. When we finally received our food, we examined it thoroughly to be sure it had not been tainted. It tasted ok, but it was definitely not worth the price we paid. After all the yelling, I can't even remember what we had. Seriously, you can get better food for less money (and with *way* better attitudes) at Stax on Taylor or Hashbrowns on Maxwell. Don't waste your time, energy, or money at Meli. And if you choose to do so, watch out for *Nick Karabelas*!!! The whole episode was sad and hilarious. These people were like bad caricatures of the worst stereotypes of surly, ill-mannered Euro-trash. We were embarrassed for them, since they plainly didn't know better. We won't be returning to this place, and neither should you.

Straight-up, old school ROCK club. Love it. I went here to see The Dillinger Escape Plan on 5/8/13. The show rocked, and the club was a great venue that reminded me of my youth. I'll definitely be seeing more shows here in the future.
