It is important to floss your teeth at least once a day. Not only to dislodge those stubborn popcorn kernels, but to clean the remaining 35% of tooth surface that brushing alone cannot. Flossing removes built-up tarter allowing the fluoride in your toothpaste to reach more places which in turn prevents enamel decay and cavities. Flossing also prevents gingivitis and helps promote overall health.

Are you frustrated by the number of new cavities you've developed? Sugar and acid can erode your teeth and leave decay where there was once enamel. Fluoride is great for strengthening your teeth, and is found in most city water and toothpaste. However, there are areas that do not have fluoride added to their drinking water, and topical fluoride treatments at the dentist are only covered by insurance companies up to a certain age. In addition to flossing and brushing two to three times a day, consider adding a fluoride rinse to your daily routine. Your pearly whites will thank you.
