Just awesome local bar, very convenient for a drink with friends and to pregame. There are not many tables, and most are reserved, but going early it's not difficult to find a spot.. Also their snacks are really good, and the cocktails are amazing.

Happy hour is fantastic here. Order "The Floozy" early and often. Live music is a nice touch, although can be a little much volume wise if seated in the back room.

Cool chill place during the day with a gambling speakeasy vibe.

Nicely decorated with gramophone-themed wallpaper and light fixtures, and nice wood and leather furniture. Interesting drinks. Slightly sloppy service.

I love ramen, but in particular spicy ramen. In California I used to eat at a wonderful ramen spot called shin sen gumi, where their cooks ran 6 month shifts from Japan to the US (all were Japanese born), and their spicy miso (I usually had 4 portions) was the best accompaniment I ever had. Since moving to New York I have tried to find a good equivalent - Ippudo was a decent match but didn't have the balanced complexity of spicy I like. Momofuko is good too, but not as good as Ippudo. So this brings me to the point where I was staying at a friend's house here in the Lower East Side, and was looking for a late night place to eat. Somehow a place called Hill and Dale comes up as a Roman location which sounds enticing, & I decide to eat there. Long story short I order a very spicy ramen, my preference. And it was the most balanced and well created spice that I've had in 10 years in eating ramen in New York. It might even be better than my favorite place in California. Well done.
